Andrew bought me a box of random beers for Father’s Day - so here’s a companion to #RandomRedThursday - it’s called #BeerBottleSaturday. This Wherry Amber Ale is a good start - an old fashioned example of what I would call “Bitter”. Hint of citrus - only a smidge. 7.5/10

A label for Avgeeks! This is a solid Tempranillo. Fruity, natch, but there’s also a hint of bubble gum. 8/10 #RandomRedThursday

The label claims that in additional to black fruit there are notes of pencil shavings in this wine. Fortunately, I can’t taste that. Sutherland is a decent South African Cab Sav. But not amazing. 6.5/10 #RandomRedThursday

From the Balearic Islands this is a blend of Callet and Matonegro grapes (haven’t heard of them until now) and a touch of Cab Sav. It gets better with each sip. Tastes like Rioja. Fruity with a kick. 7.5/10 (Marks and Sparks Label) #RandomRedThursday

What can I say about this Tilimuqui Malbec from Argentina? Don’t buy it! It doesn’t even taste like Malbec. Too acidic. Harsh. No fruit. One of the most disappointing #RandomRedThursday wines we’ve ever had. 4/10
