Ordered another copy of Thriller: A Cruel Picture because it had a Tony Stella slipcover. And of course the seller bait and switched. I wish I'd seen it originally when @vinsyn.bsky.social released it. This was not that.

I am reminded of a book I read a while ago featuring a son caring for his inflicted father whose past comes knocking and it's discovered the father was a spy. Though lucid moments and digging into his father's past are the two able to survive the ordeal. ONCE A SPY by Keith Thomson. Recommended. /
MEMORY OF A KILLER came out this winter, starring Patrick Dempsey, and ... watched the pilot episode and I don't know. Part of me wants to like it, but it feels inevitable. The premise is a hitman who is in early onset Alzheimer's and living a double life. His brother also has Alzheimer's. +
Back in 2011, I shelved a novel about a retired detective who went into the cleaning business. Today I just watched CLEANER starring Sam L Jackson directed by Renny Harlan. Different story lines, but shows you there is nothing new under the sun. Just how you deliver it.

I haven't watched either of the FOX 9-1-1 shows, but clips have recently popped into my YouTube shorts feed. Are the episodes really that unrealistic and over the top?
What kind of fiction do you read? Has the current administration and world events changed your reading preferences? Or intensified them. I read authors like @scalzi.com, @theauthorguy.bsky.social, @aleemartinez.bsky.social as an enjoyable palate cleanser. It's becoming the norm. Not a bad thing.
