githubs new automated education verification system is mildly annoying. turns out it wants screenshots and if you give it a picture of a document instead it will deny u. might also be because i refused to change my public profile name to my deadname but oh well.

a friend and me came up with the very convoluted theory that some intern @ AS131711 connected an old server they found in the basement that was configured to advertise as 1.1.1.1 (obviously very unlikely but silly theories are fun)

rooot: someone swallowed the entire 1.1.1.1 range, some random indonesian AS
blex: maybe it will be a kevin fang vid, cuz thats big still
blex: iirc tho, 1.1.1.1 range used to be owned by indonesia or whatever
rooot: i mean, BGP "takeover" is kinda huge
blex: so maybe a legacy system that failed
rooot: probably some intern turning on that old server from the basement that was set to advertise as 1.1.1.1 [troll emoji]

no luck getting the boot sector restored so far, made one using testdisk and now its showing me two files can't open either of those (the zip partially, but CRC error/corrupted) and the other file is very obviously 0 bytes. so uh, still got some work and praying to do
