In which I made a breakthrough with my display and met lots of wonderful makers and customers. I even won a prize, and that (as far as I can remember anyway?!) has literally never happened to me before, it made me feel like a giddy kid😄 Thanks to Peak District Artisans for the support 🙏
Pleased and proud to say I'll be exhibiting with the @peakdistrictartisans for the first time this weekend. It's the annual summer showcase in Buxton which is their flagship event for the year. It's Saturday and Sunday in the Octagon at Pavilion Gardens from 11-5 on Saturday and 11-4 Sunday.
That was yesterday and this is today! So many thank-yous to the @kilnceramicfair team for their hard work to pull off a brilliant new fair in a stunning location. Thanks of course to everyone who helped keep this potter's dream alive by buying a pot, and to those who engaged and chatted too:)
Busy prepping pots for Kiln Ceramic Fair this weekend! Come along and see these new coffee and tea mugs and beakers, fresh from the wood kiln. I'll even have them the right way up by then;) Kiln Fair is a new ceramics fair at the stunning Masson Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site in Derbyshire, UK.
Over BH weekend 23-25 May, I'm taking part in High Peak Open Studios trail (New Mills - venue 3) and Peak District Artisans Spring Trail (venue 12). My studio is too wee to open, so I'll be selling alongside a handful of peers in Providence Church on Mellor Road, New Mills. See website for details!
Fresh pots from the wood kiln coming with me to the Spring Fair, Sunday 10th May, 10-4pm at Torr Vale Mill, New Mills. Hope to see you there!
This weekend sees the very welcome return of Manchester Ceramics Fair at The Whitworth Art Gallery. So many great potters in attendance, check out their feed to see an alphabetical grid of all the lovely marvellous potters and their wares. #ceramics #pottery #ceramicsfair #handmadepottery
It's not too late for a last minute gift purchase from my shop! Link in bio. I've a few items still in stock and I am posting orders (in UK only, sorry) tomorrow and Wednesday so you'll receive them in time for Christmas. #lastminute #handmadegifts #pottery #tableware #shopsmall
This Saturday will be my last fair of the season - the first ever Stockport Ceramics Fair organised by the wonderful @merseywayworkshop The fair will be in Stockroom’s upstairs studio, with festive workshops, live music, mince pies, and mulled wine! Also, my webshop has a few items still available!
This Sunday, I'll be joining friends from @manchesterceramicscollective @trackbrewingcotaproom for a Christmas pottery sale with added pizza, cake and beer (and cheer;) A wintry night out at Track's Tap Room is a treat anyway, but this event promises to be really special.
Saturday 6th, I'm taking part in the Bell House Pottery Winter Sale. This is the Dulwich studio where I was potter-in-residence last August. They'll have one-off samples and finished pieces for sale, all made during or as a result of my residency. 11am - 6pm, Bell House Pottery, SE21 7BG
This Saturday I'll be at Long Eaton Art Room for Toasted ceramic fair! Join me and about 20 other potters/ceramicists/sculptors for some extremely jolly Christmas gift shopping:) Plus good food and live music! The event supports the Long Eaton Art Room, a cherished local community arts centre
This weekend I'm doing the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair - Online Gift Edition. It's a curated online shop window for high quality craft. Newsletter subscribers get an email on Friday morning with a link to the preview event that starts Friday evening from 6pm. Now is the time to subscribe!
@MakersattvMill is THIS SUNDAY! How did that happen? Looking forward to the festive vibes:) Just one more firing to do this year tomorrow. Shout out to @peakpotters for letting me use their kiln as mine had a pre-Christmas fail! Hopefully be bringing most of those kiln-fresh pots with me on Sunday.
NEW EVENT ADDED!!! Manchester's newest food and artisan market in the Campfield Market on Liverpool Rd opened last weekend to bring people back into the beautiful market hall now refurbed. It looks flipping amazing and I am beyond excited to have picked up a stand here this Saturday!
My next in person event is Makers at the Mill Winter Fair, Sunday 30th November. It's a lovely do in the Torr Vale Mill in New Mills' actual canyon, very cool! The best local craft and food stalls, a great place to get your festive shopping wrapped up (we're ok to make festive puns now right?)
I've got plant pots and planters in @budgardencentre.bsky.social 's container shop! They're impermeable to water so won't leave marks on your windowsills if you use them for houseplants, and they won't be frost damaged if you use them outside:)
The online edition of Great Northern Events' long-running high end craft fair. Over this weekend a curated listing of 70-ish makers is gathered into one site so you can browse easily, then buy work from our webshops (link in bio). I've made a special selection of thrown and hand-built pieces:)
Next up I'll be at beautiful Pavilion Gardens in Buxton for their Artist and Designer Fair, 8th - 9th November from 10-16:30 both days. I've got fresh new pots from the wood kiln to show, hope to see you there! #pottery #craftmarket #handmadegifts #stoneware #ceramics #madeinderbyshire
Still banging the drum for Manchester Ceramics Fair next weekend! I’ll be bringing fresh spring-y pots:) And really looking forward to seeing all the other potters’ work and having a good old chat (about pots mainly, obsessed much!?)
If you find yourself in MCR on the 15/16th March there’s this fabulous ceramics fair on! 50+ amazing potters and sculptors! Come and see us and chat abt pots:)
This is not about pots. But check my freshly repaired trainers!? So proud:)
I took 2 years out, back to school to learn my craft. Such an amazing experience. Now, I’m working 7 days across 2 freelance jobs & my pottery business. It’s amazing though how even tired and under pressure, I still love this more than anything! No one ever said it would be easy to follow a dream:)
Niche post for wood-kiln geeks. Look how rotten steel goes after 18years under the firebox of a kiln! It’s actually held up pretty well:) New steelwork gone in and just a few more maintenance jobs to do and can have a firing, phew! Wood firing is hard work, but I love it all.
Opening Saturday! Bevere Gallery's Graduate Showcase including some of my very gifted cohort from Clay College. I'll be there to chat about pots;) Excited to see new pots from old friends and work by other new potters I've not yet met. PV: 11/1/25, 10-4, Bevere Gallery, Worcester, WR3 7RQ
So… if you are interested in signing up to my newsletter (then thank you) but if you are outside the UK and also on Instagram you can help me test a glitch I am having. Pls try to sign up for my newsletter through link in bio in Instagram @row_hamilton and let me know if it doesn’t work?
Last year was busy and wonderful. I set up my business and started selling my pots! But, am having some trouble with IG blocking international sign ups to my newsletter and need help from anyone who is a) on Instagram and b) outside the UK. If that’s you… 1/2
A day in the life. Collect the wood, saw the wood, split the wood, stack the wood… Also today, process fallen tree and make brash piles for wildlife. Ooph, tired now! Back for more next week. Hopefully I get time to actually make some pots soon!?
Just putting a couple of pictures of me and my pots here while I work out what I’m doing with this new platform! Studio potters of the UK (and everywhere else) I am looking for you!?
