Occasionally amusing, increasingly annoying. “You’re quite geeky but in a good way”. Flying the flag for Yorkshire (but don’t let that put you off)
I used to write a page for my local rugby league team’s match day programme - here’s an account of my refereeing exploits.
This is my youngest (please note - this is not a proper shark)
Good information, thanks. A crumpet has two distinct sides: a flat side (bottom) and the dimpled top which holds little reservoirs of butter. The aforementioned visitors from New Hampshire were buttering the flat side until corrected. Best enjoyed when butter dribbles down your chin!
Danny Ward has already had a Championship promotion winning season and will always be a Huddersfield hero
You’re welcome. Not only does Lincoln have a good football team nowadays, they also have a rather impressive cathedral
Haha I love a delve in a charity shop. Prices vary from town to town up here in the industrial northern wastelands but are usually very cheap where I live. Picked up this signed copy for £1 last month (so much I hear you cry 😉
Happy St David’s Day to all my Welsh friends and acquaintances. As a tribute, here’s a photo of my favourite Co op 🏴
On sell-off at the local bakers, just wondering if a Bailey’s Mince Pie qualifies as 1 of your 5?
You would have liked this game I played in on holiday in Spain: England/Ireland versus Germany/Spain. There was definitely no feigning of injury involved
An interesting and amusing article: read this for when Peace broke out in an international game of football ( soccer )
Yorkshire Day - Toad in the Hole with Yorkshire puddings on the side (you don’t get days like this anymore!)
It’s taken a while however Uncut magazine has finally discovered CMAT - a big 8/10 for the self-proclaimed Dunboyne Diana.
Here’s another piece I wrote in my completely ignored Summers Sports feature. This one is about my hatred of Wimbledon (not the football club)
Heads-up to all of my 236 Followers! Here’s a piece I scribbled together for a local sport team’s match day programme - all about the joys of playing Mini Golf (or Crazy Golf as us ‘mad’ people in the UK call the game). Give it a read, folks ⛳️ @dewsburyrams
Who can forget the time when the Dewsbury Rams gatecrashed the celebrations in Toronto? My tongue in cheek piece about that euphoric occasion #nba #toronto #wethenorth @thewoodypaige.bsky.social @intlrugbyleague.bsky.social
Here a piece I wrote for the match day programme about my weekly fix of paying 5-a-side (that’s soccer to you find folks on the other side of the pond?

@theipaper.com Reading Will Gore’s piece about refereeing a junior football match, I too had a similar experience a few years back (Dewsbury Rams match day programme)
Here’s a little piece I wrote in my Sports Column about my experience as a junior football referee (well somebody had to do it)
Alan Tyler of The Rockingbirds may never have had a hit however he has written a great little book about missed chances and blown opportunities in the music business. I suspect Alan is still gradually learning and will continue to plough a musical furrow until something better comes along!
It’s a bit blurred but here’s my piece on Speed Walking in the Spen Valley
Here’s the second page again (I was a bit rushed earlier as I had some porridge on the boil)
Oooo how exciting, I’m published!! Bradford City of Culture 2025 @bradford2025.co.uk @curatorconnelly.bsky.social
