The Des Moines River is full of pollution that (I assume) was whipped into a frothy mess by the Saylorville spillway. Super gross.
When I was a little kid my mom taught dance at the DM art center and I would run off and look at all the art. I was always mesmerized by this plug
“Love See No Colour” by The Farm, is one of my all time favorite albums. I’ve given it 2-3 listens a year since ‘93 or so. It’s bonkers good and the fact that it’s not on a lot of streaming services is a crime.
I loved how much work the Pet Shop Boys would put into their album packaging. “Very” and “Bilingual” especially were just great in every way; including being their best 2 albums (IMO)
My neighbors cat is beefing with a family of grackles. She won’t give up, and they’re annoying.

Back in the early 90’s my mom ran “Tap Des Moines” where hundreds of tap dancers did a parade in downtown on a random summer day. The grand martial was my friend Bo who always looked dapper in his tux
