Went with meat and potato theme, and it was good. I'll have to try for a veg version, just to keep balance, and just good fun trying different ideas

Pork loin chops braised in a habanero sauce, served on a bed of cheesy fried potato bits

The sauce on these has black pepper, Sichuan pepper, and habanero coffee sauce from el yucateco.

Butter browned fried potatoes with garlic and sharp cheddar makes a great contrast

If you could bottle pain, this might well be how you'd label it, honestly I'm deeply scared to dab this nightmare I wrought upon myself, but I'm curious what level of pain it will inflict, and just at the ends, or all the way through?

Pepper X sludge, pepper concentrate, vinegar, and lime juice.

Arguably the hottest bottle I've ever bought, unarguably the most expensive, but I wanted the pure essence of this fruit.

Chocolate chip cookies using mini chips, this is a milestone I've worked toward for over a year, which might sound silly, until you consider the implication that it allows on the fly creation of cookies anywhere from shortbread to chocolate chip without an outside recipe. Alt for recipe/prep.

330 grams of all purpose flour

2 sticks of butter

110 grams granulated sugar

110 grams dark brown sugar

2 eggs plus 1 yoke

15ml vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

"cream" sugar and butter together, whipping it a bit, to get some volume as well as mixing.

Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix hard, it should be smooth and not glossy.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder, so you don't get "hotspots" from the baking powder.

Add the flour mix a third to half at a time, and gently mix until fully mixed.

Mix in the chocolate chips, you have cookie dough.

These were cooked in a convection oven at 340f for 14 min on a silicone mat.

Made some really nice soup doing an improv cream of broccoli and potato, using caramelized onion and cabbage as the flavor base. Turned out surprisingly good, I'll have to make a slim (no cream cheese) version, it might not really need the extra fat.

Vegetable cream soup, the base is caramelized onion and cabbage, with gold potatoes, mushrooms, and broccoli in a cream cheese hybrid sauce.

Seasoned with garlic, black pepper, salt, Ajino Moto MSG, bouillon, and a dash of cayenne pepper.

Ingredients:

2 medium onions, minced/fine chop

1/4 medium head cabbage, finely chopped.

5 medium yukon gold potatoes, coarse cubes

1/2 pound mushrooms coarse chop

1 pound broccoli florets chopped into smallish bits

1/2 cup all purpose flour

1 stick of butter

1 stick of cream cheese

around 6 cups of water

This is prep intensive, I'm pretty good with a knife, but it was about 40 minutes or so of cutting stuff.

If you wanted to convert this to vegan, you would use 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, or your favorite neutral oil, and add a bit more flour. I use mushroom powder and a dash of yeast flakes as a bouillon substitute.

Start by slow cooking the onions and cabbage in the butter, stirring a bit, but low enough heat not to need much stirring. The goal is a golden brown color, more heat is more stirring, there's room to play.

When the mix has the right color, add the flour, mix well and continue to simmer for a couple minutes after blending

Add the water a cup or 2 at a time, I use cold water, hot water is faster.

Bring the base up to gentle boil, adding water to desired thickness of broth, and add mushrooms and potatoes, giving about 10 minutes before adding the broccoli.

Simmer for another 10-15 minutes, or until almost desired tenderness, and add the cream cheese cut into small bits as best as can be managed, stir until smooth, and you got soup.

This soup can be frozen.

The answer to the question that nobody was wondering about, is a qualified yes, with a couple not so fast points. I micro batched a proof of concept, botanical Hibiskey. The deep magenta is from Hibiscus extract.

These are my main knives, they handle 90% of the workload. They are razor sharp and can't be kept in drawers without blade guards. The difference in hand strain when using really sharp knives is a lot, but it requires upkeep. These are sharpened on a 2000 grit flat and XF diamond honing stick.

Cooking knives, 3 inch paring knife, 4 inch paring knife, 6 inch chef knife, and 6 inch nakiri knife.

Release the Epstein files, look we even made a statue of you, dear leader.

A statue of Trump and Epstein holding hands in a whimsical pose with "best friends forever" as the title on the pedestal.

Painted to look like bronze and marble, this is the second appearance of the statue in the national mall, having been removed after a day, for "reasons". With the government shutdown, it's unclear if there will be personnel to remove the statue again.
