Hey I'm Mitch, some guy with an engineering degree, a construction job, a lot of cats and an old house full of fix up projects. In my spare time, organizer for Lowell, MA area causes, candidates and the city Democratic committee.
On this one on the left you can see the logo Charlotte still uses today also being used here.
This is a neat midcentury pipe catalog (1967) someone found at work. Charlotte Foundry is still around as a major US manufacturer of cast iron and PVC drainage piping.
The colors are really just wrong right now. I’m not sure you can capture it in a photo.
Anyways it’s hard to see any these kinds of things without thinking of one of the best (but silly) metal album covers.
This picture of then-Senator Joe Biden and then-new senator Lindsey Graham visiting occupied Iraq in 2004 as part of a delegation from the Senate is a reminder that 2004 was in fact quite a while ago now.
Happy Independence Day! We’re here to celebrate the democracy and freedoms that our founding fathers and many others over the last 250 years have fought for, not the depraved and humiliating farce in DC. They will not rule for ever, and ideas for which we stand, that we celebrate, will rule again.
There will be a next kitchen project, because while it is functional our kitchen has its share of jank. The previous owners put up this backsplash tile with the range in place, and got some grout between it and the cabinets that actually made it harder to pull out.
Fixing the oven! It’s actually pretty obnoxious to go a few weeks without one. I figured the igniter had failed and the replacement I ordered from Whirlpool worked. While I did want to replace the range with electric, that’d require new electrical wiring that’ll wait to the next kitchen project.
Posting “the Democrats will not do anything I or you want” like this is in substance campaigning for the Republicans. It will not change what the democrats will or won’t do should we win, but can affect who will win by influencing voters, and if the Republicans win then what you want doesn’t matter.
Thank you everyone who made it out this evening in support of Rep. Tara Hong, including former Lowell city councilor and the first Khmer-American elected official In the US, Rithy Uong (pictured), Lowell mayor Erik Gitschier, and city councilors Sidney Liang and Sean McDonough. #mapoli
The terrifying controversy (I voted yes on it in a losing cause in like 2007, it finally got built in 2022)
Since being elected in 2024, State Rep. Tara Hong has worked tirelessly to improve constituent access for Lowell’s Acre & Highlands while fighting to protect its immigrant communities and for investment in schools and infrastructure. This Friday 6/26, join him at Sompao Meas hall in Lowell! #mapoli
It was a good event at the Worthen upstairs to kick off Anthony Milisci’s campaign for regional vocational school district committee, introduced by state Rep. Tara Hong (Lowell) and also attended by Lowell city councilors Sidney Liang and Sean McDonough. (I also need to clean my camera)
This fall in Mass we don’t just have the state election - many county and regional offices will be on the ballot, including the Greater Lowell regional vocational school district, covering Lowell, Dracut, Tyngsboro & Dunstable. Today, join my friend Anthony Milisci, running for an open seat! #mapoli
Apparently it follows one of those cutesy reply bots which creates a weird result
This about Boris Johnson and Michael Gove was probably the most damning part. Neither really believed in Leave but knew supporting it could build clout. Do not outsource responsibility for reasonable outcomes onto others by protest voting or protest campaigning! What you do can affect the outcome!
Visiting family for Father’s Day and that includes my brother‘s cat Lev!
