When you close your eyes and imagine an Esperanto restaurant, does it look anything like this? [Esperanto of Saratoga Springs]
Some duplicates. My multiple copies of Step By Step didn't show up for the photoshoot.
"Introduce Esperanto" reminds me of that old "address the ball" Honeymooner bit that my wife's Grandfather would carry on about. Helloooo ball! Hellooo Esperanto, nice to meet you.
Haha - it's Kafo. And THIS is my four point plan (and helmet) of salivation.
Oh, something about chocolate and vanilla, and having choices, or about preferring things that are standard, or maybe that even Aunt Anne is taking my side here.
When Esperanto speakers say stuff like this, we make ourselves look "ridindaj" (ridiculous). Who in the history of the world has ever chosen a language like this? And after speaking Esperanto almost 30 years, I'm not sure it's even true?
Predictably - the person blocked me. Too bad I didn't record the context first.
My questions was about how somebody who is interested in one language can convince themselves to be interested in a different one. I asked "how do you see learning Esperanto as at all comparable to learning Mohawk, and vice versa?" Is there an answer anywhere in this long set of replies?
Blocked again. This time I took a screen shot of the message I was re-tweeting. I was sincerely trying to engage with this person. I should learn that when someone says "Esperanto is useless" they've already set themselves up as an expert on the topic, even though they know nothing about it.
The situation even if Salivanto is wrong! The situation even if Salivanto's position be faux! #AngloFranca (It be not grave, what you aim not!)
Last week I replied to this account not realizing that it was somebody I know. He reached out to me in private to "explain" his point of view -- and then blocked me. It's unfortunate because there is so much to learn. This post, for example would be a great way to approach #Esperanto, actually.
No un attend theyself to the Anglo-Franca Inquisition. We's principal armement be surprise. Surprise and peur. Jour 72 with Anglo-Franca docs.google.com/document/d/1... #AngloFranca
Lernu unue la lingvon kiu interesas vin If someone is trying to sell you Esperanto because you want to learn a different language, just learn that other language. It just makes sense. #Esperanto #Polyglot
Well, maybe everybody but me can still see the link, but this is what it was supposed to look like.
Amo estas en la aero / It's interesting to see how people talk about Esperanto
imagine a dragon-riding race from planet Diné, all speaking Dinarian. But Dinarian is literally nothing but Navajo. Would this be a good thing for the Navajo community?
And this part: "Emily" here is now curious what a constructed language might be like. Watch out, Emily. That's what got me hooked 30 years ago. Idle curiosity and have long-term impacts. And this is kind of a call-back to what goose wanted to know. Certainly more than 10 people speak Esperanto.
This is why I say Lux did a good thing. Esperanto's greatest enemy is obscurity. There's no such thing as "bad press."
