Musician, reader, big sister, Old Labour. I live just below the windswept moral highground. It's densely populated here and, despite its messy ambiguities, it's warmer and more friendly.
My sister and I doing a spot of late-night sanding and diy. Those are Prada sunglasses I’m wearing. 💪
The colour is Climate Change Pink and Apocalypse Yellow. Farrow & Ball also bringing out a sophisticated Parched Lawn and Enshittification Brown in their new End Times range.
Why is the resignation of Jason Arday main news? Sure, it’s an awfully sad thing and pulls in so many directions. But the only reason it’s the @theguardian.com top story is prurience. I worry for this man’s wellbeing.
Funny – I just came in after returning my regular VDB (visiting driveway bunny) to my neighbour, sat down, looked at Bluesky, saw your Follow, and saw this! I'm screenshotting my photo so you can see the date and time I took this.
Have Andy Burnham and Kyle Chandler ever been seen in the same room? I think not.
What an unexpected delight: Mr Angry Pants from Bear Behaving Badly is in an episode #twentytwelve. We *love* Mr Angry Pants. (That's a series reference.) #W1A #TwentyTwentySix etc
I don’t know what they said because I had already blocked them. it is upsetting though, even when you know a troll is batshit. I hope you have emergency chocolate.
is this a proofreading error – in which case🤣, or an obscure Americanism – in which case, 😠? Or my waning cognitive ability, in which case: 😨? #nytimesgames
I love this painting by Winifred Nicholson of the pianist, Vera Moore. She's been describing as looking "as if she had just been told a lovely secret when she played".
Sneakily playing a note with an unexpected finger is – says 11yo pianist Boris – a "Fake Rabona pass". He's right! I must add this to the Blog I'll Never Write: a new version of Dozen A Day exercises, but they're all types of football manoeuvre. #PianoTeaching #TheBlogIWillNeverWrite
Wow: great paragraph on the British obsession with graded music exams. This is piano teacher Alice Pinto quoting from @jessicaduchen.bsky.social 's novel, Alicia's Gift, in an interview with @crosseyedpianist.bsky.social . Here's the whole article: crosseyedpianist.com/2014/09/22/a... #PianoTeaching
These are disgustingly delicious – and good for cramming into your mouth (greed isn't just about quantity: it's the quality of the mouthful). Once a corner shop staple, these are now rare and highly coveted.
Teenage pianist S's deeply-felt lyrics to help get the rhythm of a jazz piece. Other lyrics will involve Donald Trump, climate change, having to fill the dishwasher and fold her clothes. (I can't reveal her 1st name as that's apparently 'so cringe'.)
In Peterborough Cathedral today, unexpectedly, I found heart-wrenching poetry by children from Gaza. Part of a project by (I think) @handsupproject.bsky.social. One is about (our) silence being worse than war so i thought I'd share, even tho' people may know about this @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social
Amazing light! Looks like a demented giant woodpecker is rapping its beak on the railway bridge.
This elegant, autumnal thing is a Victorian 'stinkpipe' designed to mitigate foul sewer smells.
