Unter dem Titel „Sonnenfinsternis und Sternschnuppen“ laden das Max-Planck-Institut für Sonnensystemforschung (MPS), das Institut für Astrophysik und Geophysik (IAG) der Universität Göttingen und der Förderkreis Planetarium Göttingen (FPG) für Mittwoch, 12. August 2026, ab 15:30 Uhr zur Langen Nacht der Astronomie an den Nordcampus. Im Zentrum des Programms stehen die Live-Beobachtungen der beiden Himmelsphänomene, die an diesem Abend zu sehen sind: der partiellen Sonnenfinsternis (ab 19:17 Uhr) und des jährlich wiederkehrenden Meteorschauers der Perseiden (ab etwa 22 Uhr). Schon vorher gibt es ein abwechslungsreiches Angebot aus Shows im mobilen Planetarium, Mitmach- und Informationsständen zu den Themen „Sonne“ und „Meteorite“ sowie Vorträgen. Der Eintritt ist kostenlos. Für die Shows im Planetarium wird eine Anmeldung empfohlen.

Das Bismarckhäuschen in Göttingen ist der letzte noch erhaltene Turm des äußeren mittelalterlichen Befestigungsringes der Stadt. Seinen Namen erhielt es, weil der spätere Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck hier während seiner Studienzeit in Göttingen 1833 für etwa fünf Monate wohnte. Im Turm ist heute ein kleines Museum eingerichtet.

Zu sehen ist ein alter, historischer Hinterhof in Göttingen frühmorgens kurz nach zwei Uhr. Zuvor hat es über Stunden geregnet, jetzt sieht man einen wunderschönen Nachthimmel mit ein paar Wölkchen und einem strahlenden Mond, der hinter einem Dach hervor in den Hinterhof lugt.
