Seriously rent an EV. Mine was priced cheaper than gas cars and I paid less than $5 total to power me for the 200 miles I drove over the weekend.

It’s not the biggest issue of the day, but it is disappointing to see @cprnews.bsky.social use the same NYTimes AOC quote tactics for Jena Griswold. It’s a choice to leave in the “uh”s.

Emergency advisory notification from the Town of Erie, Colorado:

“All Town of Erie water users must refrain from using irrigation (sprinkler) systems at this time.

The current winter capacity of the water system cannot handle the extraordinary early use of irrigation water.

To maintain enough water for household, indoor use, and for availability in hydrants for emergencies, the Town will be monitoring for irrigation system use and will turn off water systems at the tap if residents cannot comply with the request to withhold irrigation watering.

One can look at the maga movement and the Democratic Party through a similar lens. Today’s Democratic Party is great at mobilizing: it can propel people into the streets with big marches, raise billions of dollars for national candidates, and get liberals to bombard congressional offices with letters and phone calls. However, it’s less talented at organizing—building the kinds of local infrastructure and disparate leaders that are needed to sustain a large and ideologically diverse coalition. maga, on the other hand, is great at organizing—after 2020, the movement launched the so-called Precinct Strategy, which encouraged thousands of people to run for leadership positions within their local Republican Party chapters, and to become poll workers.

In one email exchange, a redacted recipient received an email from Kimbal Musk asking to dial back their relationship: “We know how much we like each other. But I am just not able to do a real relationship right now. Would you be up for going back a step to just dating? We would see each other on weekends when we can and focus it on fun stuff.”

The redacted recipient sent the message to Epstein who responded “good news” and “now i have you back again full time” and invited the redacted recipient to “the ranch.”

In honor of Robert Redford, I watched the Milagro Beanfield Wars last night. For a 1980s movie, it was very timely and relevant. Wealthy developers forcing out incumbent residents and taking their water -- the movie works just as well as a climate allegory.
