Fantastic atmosphere at #Tolpuddle festival- and the weather’s pretty spectacular too. @labour4pr.bsky.social and @politics4many.bsky.social working together to make the case for proportional representation among trade unionists - not much persuasion needed 😊
I particularly like this from the Times political sketch - including the screenshot of Jenrick hosting the LBC phone-in - see what it says in the caption
Barley field on the outskirts of Tonbridge. It looks ripe to me. Is that a record, ripe barley on 2nd July? We’ll be getting winter wheat that gets harvested in May if we carry on like this. Do Reform UK still think global warming isn’t a thing?
Slightly unexpected having the King’s Birthday Trooping of the Colours on all day at the Hindley campaign centre, but at least nobody could accuse @labourpartyuk.bsky.social of being unpatriotic- unlike some of our Russian-friendly opponents
A real honour to be out canvassing for Andy Burnham alongside Brendan Barber - Brendan’s leadership at the TUC made the EU case for unions and helped our party accept membership of the European Union
Check to see if your MP is one of the 100 who have signed - if not, write and ask them to do so. This isn’t a minority issue any more - they need to be on the right side of history. And why not join us at labourforelectoralreform.org.uk
Alex Sobel MP with Young SERA hosts discussion of energy, the Climate Crisis and Labour policy on 18 May 5pm-6.30pm Room P, Portcullis House, Westminster. All welcome - please share especially with young Labour members @serauk.bsky.social
One takeaway from the Gorton & Denton by-election is that the constituency has no geographic justification and almost zero commonality of political outlook. First Past the Post mandates constituencies that are roughly equal in size, and forces regular boundary-changes.
Am I the only one who thinks the House of Lords cosplay makes them look like downmarket department store Santas?
@stellacreasy.bsky.social making this exact point at the Transformations Conference in Lewes yesterday. My plea to good democratic socialists in the Labour Party- it’s our Party, don’t leave, we’ve got a planet to save.
Great view of London from Blackfriars Station- on my way to Lewes for the Transformations Conference - looking forward to hearing @stellacreasy.bsky.social
On my way home to Ipswich after a great day out in London. 7pm train from Liverpool Street- 9 of the 12 carriages completely full. Still enough seats for everyone. Absolutely on time. No parking problems. Faster than going by car. Inexpensive. No brainer - go by train! @greateranglia.bsky.social
Amazing to discover that Gladstone first proposed nationalisation of the railways in 1844 to try to deal with the chaos of competing private companies
Enjoying Tolpuddle again - weather is perfect (dry but not too hot). Open since 10am and 5 sign-ups already! Come down to join us in Dorset - or if you can’t manage the journey join us anyway on www.labourforelectoralreform.org.uk
@christabelcoops.bsky.social tells Lewes Labour she doesn’t think Farage could win more than half the votes in a general election- but that First Past the Post would make the results unpredictable. Absolutely right! Join us in calling for a National Commission, Christabel! @labour4pr.bsky.social
Spreading the word of Proportional Representation in Lewes with the wonderful Miranda. We’re asking people to join us - why not be one of them www.labourforelectoralreform.org.uk
Emma Toal tells @uklabour.bsky.social councillors that First Past the Post now benefits the Faragists. If that worries you why not join @labour4pr.bsky.social
Labour Councillors waiting for their “spot” @teamlabouruk.bsky.social #lgaconf25
Great to see the LGBTQ+ flag flying with Pride from Ipswich Borough Council offices - in contrast to the shame and cowardice of Tory-run Suffolk County Council that has bowed to “anti-woke” pressure and is not flying the flag this year.
Something strangely reassuring about a pub garden where part of it is Roman walls - Canterbury. Hopefully still here in another 2,000 years
62.5% of voters who expressed a preference said they want us to rejoin. That’s a real majority- not just a whisker
Quick walk from my lunchtime business meeting to the town centre- how many towns have a centre like this? Really love Ipswich!
If you are going to empower members to campaign for your party you have to take an interest in their views - says Cat Arnold the new member of the Labour Party NEC @labour4pr.bsky.social
Great to be at Lewes Labour Party’s Festival of Ideas - spreading the word of electoral reform amongst Labour members and supporters- a very high degree of agreement as ever & hopefully new members of labourforelectoralreform.org.uK
Great to catch up with the wonderful Tonia Antoniazzi MP for Gower - a great champion for Wales, for the environment and for democracy.
Great to meet up with Mick Antoniw MS - a great champion for fairer votes in Wales
Great to be asked to speak at Suffolk’s 1 Big Multicultural Festival - I will be saying we are all one big family across the globe & if we don’t work together our world will die
