Excitable, existential, absurd. Ecologically motivated. Small time Canadian. Writings at
Collage night. Had a loose idea of past, present future in my mind, been thinking about time agin lately.
This one is my new fav palette. Nothing defeats shirley poppies (or my gardens)
Finger update because that's what's important right now: antibiotics killed the infection (and my gut biome nbd) and I'm finally band-aid free, though it's still very sensitive. A thick layer of skin came off because everything underneath HAD ROTTED. Staph infections are terrifying
Still playing with light, it's neat how it can change the vibe from painterly to spatial. So much fun. My gardens grew everything, and I found the poor deceased bumble bee in my laundry room.
Floral cleanse for you. I've been sorting out light and learning how to use still life props.
Getting my head in the flower game again and my head is like "thank god this is way better than writing an essay every time we get pissed off about something"
Gardened all morning and collaged all afternoon. Happy with how this one came together.
I'd been rifling through themes of time again, and mentioned phenomenology as a new theme I was drawn to She went, "oh! Like this?" and pulled this book OUT OF HER JACKET POCKET. She'd bought the book 4 YEARS AGO, hadn't read it yet, and just happened to grab it that day for breakroom reading
New kitchen garden! No-till baybeee. Getting more patient with befuddled neighbours - I started a whole acre this way once, and in my last place I replaced the entire lawn with perennials. This is one of four large new beds I'm building for vegetables, fruits and flowers.
Cutest thing about poppies is they're like goldfish in that they grow to the size of their habitat (within limits obvs), so if you start them too early indoors like I always do you end up with the teensiest little flower garden
Cutest mouse house in my garden aaaaaa!! The mouse put the door right by the sign eeeee I die
Checking on the Gulf Stream before I go to bed just to let it know I see it and appreciate it
I have an emotional support Meyer lemon tree next to my desk and the wafts of jasmine and citrus are giving me life
I had to leave this life behind and it nearly killed me. I'm SO EXCITED to start 'er up again this summer.
Been sorting through photos from my flower farm to use on my new website and ghuuuuhhh
I'll never get over how cuuuute baby plants are. I started these alpine strawberries from seeds I saved from my AB city gardens, which were started from seeds saved from my flower farm (I start everything from seed). Hellooooo bebbies!
Upon closer inspection I wonder if this wood pile WAS a little mushroom farm - these look like plug sites, no? The woman who owned my place before was a master gardener and herbalist from China, lived here till she passed at 81. Hell yeah I love this place
Leak from a pipe above has resulted in a possibly ideal spot to grow mushrooms in my basement utility room? Why waste a good leak amiright (plumber has also been alerted)
