insights from a third person, unrelated to the two I mentioned (this is all public so I'm sure it's fine to share, no subscription or anything is needed to see it):

Someone on Substack:

I guess I see a different crowd. Where I live everyone young has pastel hair, tattoos, tons of piercings and presents as ambiguous gender. It is odd to even dress like a person with a job other than bartender barista. Where is this normal place you describe? I may move there.

My response:

Assuming you're in the US, have you never spent time in the Midwest, the rural South, or Appalachia? Go there and tell anyone you meet that this is the norm where you live (...Northern California? Pacific Northwest?) and they won't even believe you. If you want boring, America can hook you up, and if you do happen to like those regions, housing is cheap there too.

Ian is looking through photos he took in SF years ago and found this one that is EXACTLY how to lure me into a trap:

SARAH SUNFIRE

To call love a finite resource is false scarcity
But this world couldn’t hold us,
Bound by star trails
Caught in the lens of a cracked telescope

We were one of us sun
We were one of us moon
We one of us hovered between planet and star

Daylight obliterated our tri-cornered constellation
before we configured sunset, twilight, moonrise
A blue wave breaking over my face
Pulling reflected light down with the tide
Undertow, celestial heights
Each a half-spin of the same motion

Love sets fire to the need for meaning,
In harmony, we do not hunger for “sense.”

Love is not an escape
Love will not remake history

almost 2 years ago, we found out that Neil Gaiman is a predator. for many reasons, some easier to explain than others, I felt a need to reclaim Delirium from Sandman in the wake of everything. I commissioned @egallagher.bsky.social for this purpose, who is astonishing. Follow and buy her art!!
