But even when they make sounds it’s not really a scream. More of a raspy growl or hiss They’re generally pretty quiet animals tho and communicate to each other by clicking. The growling/hissing is for perceived threats

Possums don’t actually “scream.” A lot of pics of them with their mouths really wide open are actually them yawning They open their mouths to try and scare off other critters, but their mouths don’t open as wide and they usually lunge. They do hiss/growl sometimes while baring teeth #possumfacts
