How about tornadoes in the middle of nowhere Arkhangelsk Oblast, northern Russia? Thats a real possibility tomorrow afternoo, with strongly enlarged low-level hodographs and just about sufficient effective bulk wind difference for supercells. Who is gonna report them tho?
Even from the far away Fiero radar in northern Italy, we can see that the Supercel that has now gone up in far western Emilia-Romagna has a clear hook on it. Better late then never in terms of discrete cell development but it remains to be seen how intense it can really get.
A strong supercell has formed just south of Mostar in southern Bosnia. Radar data indicates that this cell is capable of producing hailstones up to 5 cm in size. Damaging wind gusts are also not ruled out with this activity, considering the potential size of the cold pool. #EUwx
Tropical Storm Bertha is still not a beauty queen by any stretch of the imagination. The LLC still largely exposed. Despite this both recon data and SAR data indicate that peak 1 minute sustained winds are around 95 km/h (60 mph). The MSLP is indicated at around 995 mbar.
Intense seemingly outflow dominant cell continues to track over the Adriatic. This is likely dropping large to very large hail into the sea. Also damaging wind gusts propably ongoing with this one but thankfully currently over water but there are ships in the area.
Strong supercell already ongoing just off the coast of Italy's Marche region, seen here via Croatia's Debeljak radar. Tall echo tops, strong reflectivity returns and lots of lightning indicate a strong storms. Severe wind gusts associated with this may still reach shore.
Severe thunderstorms capable of large hail and potentially also severe wind gusts are also already ongoing across parts of Bosnia and vicinity. Expect severe convective activity to proliferate across the Balkans over the course of this afternoon into the evening.
Early day convection occured further west then I was anticipating. Cluster has a bow shape too it but the south side seems to feature a supercell. Large to very large hail and severe, perhaps damaging wind gusts possible. May mess with severe risk further south.
As the sun rises over TD 02L, we can see that the system has started to produce some more centralized convection, tho this also reveals that the vortex is not perfectly stacked vertically. Recon data from earlier indicates that the pressure has levelled off around 1006-1007 mbar.
I think the potential intensity of TD 02L will depend a lot on the track. While most operational models take a more northerly route closer to shore, several ensemble members are further south deeper over water, where there is also higher oceanic potential and these tend to be stronger.
Supercell thunderstorms are indeed ongoing across northeastern Italy's Veneto province. This radar product is sorta hard to interpret but seems like northern cells are now outflow dom after merger. Severe wind gusts and large to to maybe even very large hail remain possible.
The most immediate area to watch for tropical cyclone formation in the WPAC is from E of Luzon into the SCS around mid to late next week. This is primarily proposed to some extend by various ML models & to a lesser extend IFS. GFS has vorticity come together later further east towards the Marianas.
Tropical Storm Elida continues to choke on dry air today and isn't making much progress. Briefly it seemed like deep convection was wrapping around but almost as soon as the NW side waxed, the southeast side waned. The NHC has downgraded the peak intensity again to a mere 65 kts.

Radar and DWD WarnWetter user reports indicate that the cluster of storms currently ongoing in the Gera-Weimar vicinity is producing severe wind gusts up to 90 km/h. Nowcasting guidance indicates that this threat will continue for the next couple of hours as it moves NE.
Super HD (nowcast) and ICON-D2/RUC are now in agreement that the cluster of storms currently ongoing in and around southwestern Thuriniga in central Germany should strengthen in the next couple of hours and cause a swath of strong to severe wind gusts.
Massive trend on the 21Z ICON-D2, where the progged temperatures across much of southern Germany are lower (likely due to additional cloud cover), dragging down the Pot. Cold Pool strength and CAPE, therefor reducing severe wind potential. RUC largely agrees as well. We'll see...
Today an IF 1.5 tornado occured in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, France. This is somewhat a strange case to me. While ICON-RUC proximity soundings indicate very favourable kinematics, the LCL should have been prohibitively high. I guess it was lower somehow.
Organised severe thunderstorms capable of large hail up to 3-4 cm and perhaps a few severe wind gusts appear possible in Denmark and northern Germany tomorrow afternoon. EBWD should often be sufficient to at least support transient suipercells. HGL CAPE and Pot. cold pool quite decent.
A pair of supercells is still ongoing in southern Germany near Augsburg, the southern one headed to the Augsburg metro. But it is the northern one which I am more worried about. Upstream ICON-RUC soundings looks quite potent for (very) large hail and damaging wind gusts.
Strong cluster ongoing just south of the border with Germany in northeastern France is inhabiting a parameter space that should be conducive to large hail and severe downbursts. Attached ICON-RUC sounding is from Bitsch in the path of the cluster.
Another strong and mean looking supercell is ongoing just south of the Türkheim radar in southerm Germany. Hail up to 5 cm has been confirmed via the WarnWetter app and user reports also indicate that the storm has a history of producing damaging wind gusts.
Nowcasting guidance indicates that the cluster of thunderstorms in the Nevers vicinity of central France tracking east-northeastward is inhabiting a parameter space conducive to damaging wind gusts and (very´) large) to giant hail. Dangerous situation!
