Inside is a set of four cake pans, graduated in size. I’m guessing 9, 7, 5, and 3 inches. This really makes me want to bake a cake!

Inside the box is an unused (hazel was like that) set of four cake pans, graduated in size. I’m guessing 9, 7, 5, and 3 inches. That three inch cake is going to burn before the normal sized nine inch gets set!
I do really want to get back to baking! Great idea in this near 100° F heat!! On the other hand who doesn’t love a wedding cake? I mean icing! This thing could carry a lot of icing. And Jam! Different flavors! Powdered sugar! Piping!

Also this old box. It dates to the early sixties. A promotional item from Domino Sugar. Something gleams inside. We’re on an orange shag carpet, also from the 70’s.

It is a funky old box and has a shipping label on it. It’s addressed to Hazel Mahan who we know moved from the address here in ‘66.

I was going through the basement and found this artifact from the ancient past.

It’s a “Slicing Knife” (as though there were non-slicing knives)
This one is “the newest gift idea” as it is electric. Made by General Electric it probably dates to the early 70’s if not the late to mid 60’s
It comes in a box with the motorized handle, the serrated blades which move antagonistically against each other fucking the hell up anything in their path. Think of a softer, smoother chainsaw designed solely to cut into human flesh. And also beef, poultry , vegetables , fish, breads, cakes , fruits, and cheeses.

A carving fork sits, unopened, in its plastic wrap.
The entire mess is on an orange shag carpet, also from the 70’s.

Personally I don’t think it’s up for cheese as it would bind, clog, and stop working. And I question what fruits and vegetables would be large enough to bother with. And fish! This thing is designed for a turkey or large roast one of those big tuna I suppose… but if you tried to French cut a green bean you’d probably lose a leg. The balance of the device and cumbersome workings make this one a real nightmare

I bought one of these. There are some real drawbacks but the run time is impressive. And the cold is intense.

Sorry about the lousy contrast.

This is not my art. My good friend Jeff Cook drew this during Reagan’s time in office. Another cartoon showed him (Bonzo) driving a car, a completely wrecked smoking junk heap, labeled “the American economy” into a tree, rock, (or something similar) with caption, “this could be a sign of trouble ahead!”
Probably right around the time he raised taxes, contradicting his pledge never to do so.
And don’t get me started on the feckless response to the bombing of the marine corps barracks in Beirut.
Or, holy fuck, his response to the AIDS crisis and the way he turned his back on Rock Hudson.

Completely off topic, but Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck was not just an older grumpy looking guy. He had his “hotty” phase as a young man.

It’s a terrarium with a little isopod in there. This one moved away from the glass towards the interior. The yellow globs are going to be crawling around soon.

I’m a Dad!! I have a little moss terrarium. There was some brown stuff in there and I thought maybe an isopod could clean up some of the dead stuff. I put only one animal in there… not sure if this change might be good or ill.

Sounds like a job for…

A vial of cyanocobalamin 1,00 mcg. It stands in front of the prescription bottle indicating it is to be injected “under the skin” once each w eek.
As an aside, this was prescribed, and approved by insurance, and filled. However the _syringes_ were _not_ approved by insurance and needed to be purchased at cash price. (Which was nothing for us, as we are frequent fliers and are well known to the staff of our most wonderful pharmacy!)

Things are looking up! Down south of town, fifth floor picture window. This is taken nearly straight up oblique against the glass. Standard iPhone shot, no edits.

This is an image of a sunny day in Colorado. We see a blue sky, the sun shining, specular rays pointing out the clouds. Artifacts in the upper right lend a wash of mystery to the scene. It could be anywhere.
