Look, I'm glad Shudder got to debut it and that all of the seasons are on there, but it's a bit hilarious that they made such a big deal out of "exclusively" getting the show, only for it to now be available for digital purchase a couple months later and also bound for Tubi in the very near future.
In no way is DANCES WITH WOLVES a "cult classic". It made $424m worldwide off of a $22m budget. That's a gargantuan hit and as a result, it cannot ever be considered a cult film. It also raked in over half a dozen Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. Words matter. Do better, Variety.
Adam Rehmeier has crafted yet another gem in CAROLINA CAROLINE. It missed my area in theaters, so I am glad it's finally on VOD, as it's just as great as DINNER IN AMERICA and SNACK SHACK. As fantastic as Weaving and Gallner always are separately, they are even better together here. An insant fave.
TMW Spielberg had a Bond villain (Julian Glover) shoot James Bond (Connery) with a Walther PPK in the presence of two other Bond alum (Alison Doody, John Rhys-Davies).
Been seeing some folks freaking out over the next APES movie not being a direct sequel to KINGDOM. I get it, but any fears I had evaporated when I saw that Friedman, Jaffa, and Silver were still creatively steering the ship. Plus "not a direct sequel" doesn't necessarily mean "not a sequel"...
Michael Biehn finally addressed Kyle Reese's crusty bum pants on his podcast and I can't stop laughing. 🤣
I wasn't really a fan of CREATURE COMMANDOS, but this line will never not be wonderful.
Gee, I wonder why Marvel employees might unconditionally tell their Marvel boss that his latest Marvel project is the best Marvel opus to date. It couldn't have been that they were living in fear of the layoffs...
Some absolute masterpieces in here and really not a bad movie in the bunch. (A FISTFUL OF FINGERS is ranked last solely because I haven't seen it yet. Nor have most, of course, but it still counts.)
Masterpieces both. I revisited THE CROW last year and am due for a DARK CITY rewatch. It's been too long. This also reminds me that I need to finally track down and watch Proyas' first film: SPIRITS OF THE AIR, GREMLINS OF THE CLOUDS (1989).
DIE ANOTHER DAY Toby Stephens, Rosamund Pike, Rick Yune, and Lawrence Makoare have all been great in other movies and do the best they can with what little they have to work with in DAD. It's a slam dunk team on paper, but one undermined by thin writing and bad directing. Bottom-tier Bond.
THE EPIC CONCLUSION!!! (until Legendary still makes Children of Dune in 3 or 4years)
Cops? In horror?!? Jokes aside, sooooo many horror movies use the police procedural structure. It's a common framework for the genre. Especially in gialli.
