Posting some photos of food and drink from recent trip to France. Left to right, beer and socca, chocolate sorbet, an unconventional île flottante, and a würstel e patatine pizza (sausage and chips pizza. A Thing in Italy apparently. Would have again.)

Two small cardboard tubs, in each of which is what looks like a ball of chocolate ice-cream, but is in fact sorbet made with 100% cocoa chocolate.

An île flottante, non-canonically presented in a tall sundae glass instead of in a deep dish. Caramel sauce is in a layer at the bottom of the glass, then crème anglaise above that, and a layer of fluffy soft meringue on the top.

The Pan Bagnat is one of The World's Great Sandwiches™️, and sis and I really fancied one for lunch so we went three stops on the tram to a bar with a hatch in the wall selling the delicacy (1€ extra for the supplément anchois) and were not disappoint.

We went to the Promenade des Anglais and saw the tail end of the drone display, and the lasers commemorating the 86 victims. Also screens showing their names and faces. Had a bit of a cry. We were there 10 years ago, so - memories.

As today is the 10th anniversary of the terrible events of 2016, there are various commemorative events in Nice today. We just strolled down to the Promenade to watch the Patrouille de France* flypast. Managed to get a photo of the coloured smoke trails. *like the Red Arrows but older

Sis and I in our beloved Nice again for 10 days or so. Not got the use of the borrowed flat this time. We've taken an apartment in a less fashionable part of town but we know it well, and it is very conveniently situated (eg, tram stop just downstairs). View from our front balcony.
