Meadow Blazing Star (Liatris ligulistylis) is so good at attracting monarchs, it feels like a cheat code. We've had several hang around for hours on our property since blooming started, which helped to increase visits to the nearby milkweed. Seriously, grow it! You won't regret it. 🌱 #nativeplants

Since I only work a few blocks away, I'll often go for a leisurely stroll through Rockford Public Library's native plant garden overlooking the Rock River. A lot of the seeds from these plants will later become available for patrons from their seed library in the coming months.

Growing up in the Chicagoland area, we had a local brand, Maurice Lenell, that absolutely rocked the fudge swirl Pinwheel cookies. I would kill for a box of these now.

Perhaps the most egregious (albeit humorous) example I've come across was for seeds to grow your own Piranha Plant from the Super Mario video games.
Coincidentally, 'All in the Family' actor Carroll O'Connor and blues legend John Lee Hooker both died on this date in 2001. Also coincidentally, despite having received them 13 years apart, their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame are right next to each other.
