In May, Scotland elected a record number of Green MSPs. We're already getting to work. We've fixed unfair gaps in free childcare, fought back against mega AI data centres, and called for a ban on US military flights in Scotland. Join the movement today: greens.scot/join
The climate crisis is making extreme wildfire conditions more intense and more common, but our firefighting resources have not kept pace with the scale of the threat. To protect communities and nature, our governments must invest in better firefighting capability in Scotland.
There can be no excuses for speaking at a fascist rally which brought racism, intimidation and even nazi salutes to our streets. We can not allow fascists any place in Scotland and they must be rejected by all parties.
Scotland's facing a wave of hyper-scale data centre applications. If built they'd consume more than 1.5 times our peak electricity use, with no requirement to assess their environmental impact. We need to ensure our economy works for everyone, not just tech billionaires. ➡️ greens.scot/datacentres
Failed politicians shouldn't become unelected, unaccountable law makers for the rest of their lives. This is a fundamental principle of democracy. The House of Lords is a relic long past its sell by date.
From the West Highland Way to local routes, paths keep our communities connected. But too many have been left to deteriorate, becoming muddy, inaccessible and even unsafe. We're calling for a new fund to protect and expand our network to ensure everyone can experience Scotland safely.
Government policy on data centres was written before ChatGPT existed. We urgently need a pause on new centres until we can develop a clear national approach that puts an end to the corporate free-for-all. Scotland must work for people and planet, not just tech billionaires.
Not only would this criminalise the use of Gaelic in Scottish elections, it would threaten to jail anyone who uses British Sign Language in a campaign video. At their first whiff of power Reform's priority is to make our democracy less accessible and threaten their political opponents.
Democracy is about respecting the right of people to choose their own future. Scotland deserves better than another Prime Minister who believes Westminster alone gets to decide when democracy is acceptable. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...
Scotland should not allow war criminals or fascists to profit from our land or our people. It's time to seize Trump's golf courses.
Peace is not only threatened by war-mongering regimes like Russia, Israel and the US, but also by food and water insecurity and the climate crisis. Throwing even more money into the pockets of arms company bosses isn’t going to make the UK any more secure.
🚨The SNP are planning to use a bank that has profited from war crimes in Gaza to issue bonds! This is a clear breach of the parliament's vote last September for a Scottish Greens motion to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel.
Today saw an important step towards a pause on the construction of hyperscale data centres in Scotland. At First Minister's Questions the First Minister agreed to consider Scottish Green calls for a pause, following significant concerns around their environmental impact.
This shouldn't be normal. But what we're seeing in the UK and across Europe this week is no longer a one-off event. We're constantly seeing new extreme weather records broken, putting people at risk. Without change we'll all pay the price.
Tonight Scotland can go through to the knock out stages of the World Cup for the first time. Tonight we can make history. 🏴
Fantastic news! Our national team should be for all of us, not hidden behind a paywall. If we want children to be inspired by our athletes then they need to be able to see them in action.
Hyperscale data centres are popping up across Scotland, with no requirement to assess their environmental impact. Greens are calling for a pause on new data centres until the government provides clear guidance on their impact on Scotland. ➡️ greens.scot/datacentres
Schools closed, events cancelled, travel warnings, and lives lost. This is the direct result of political choices made in our parliaments. The cost of climate inaction is incalculable.
10 years ago today, Scotland was taken out of the EU despite an overwhelming majority voting to remain. The case for an independent Scotland in Europe was strong in 2016, and it's even stronger now.
Rising energy bills, a genocide in Gaza, racist anti-migrant laws and the punishment of disabled people, this isn't a legacy to be proud of. Scotland deserves better than just another Westminster leader; it's time for independence.
Pride is a celebration, but it's also a protest. Greens will always stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Scotland is facing a wave of applications for hyperscale data centres. If the 24 announced so far were approved they'd take up more than 1.5 times Scotland's peak demand in electricity. We need an immediate pause until a clear national strategy is set out. 👉 greens.scot/datacentres
In 2022 we delivered free bus travel for everyone under the age of 22. Today it was announced that over 300 million journeys have been taken under the scheme! Now it's time to go further. Making bus travel free for all would help us build a fairer, greener Scotland.
1 in 9 Scottish species are at risk of extinction, including Scottish Wildcats. But this is now the third consecutive year of wild births, which follow the release of 19 captive bred wildcats into the Cairngorms in 2023! Every birth takes them a step closer to safety. 💚
Protest isn't terrorism. The UK Labour Government are taking more action against people holding signs than those complicit in genocide. 🇵🇸🏴
Plans to build a hyperscale AI Dara Centre in Fife need to be stopped. The proposals could use up to 20% of Scotland’s energy and seriously local nature. 📣Tell Fife Council to block the proposals: greens.scot/stopfifeaida...
Reform UK have promoted hate and racism, not just online, but on our streets and in our parliament. Scotland must stand together against their hate.
Hate, racism and intimidation don't have any place on the streets of Scotland. It's on all of us to stand up to build a kinder, fairer Scotland that is welcoming to all.
Real change isn't going to be delivered by the status quo Labour Party - no matter the leader. 🥀 It's no surprise that yet another Labour politician is happy to cosplay as a socialist, but will mimic the worst of Tory policies to gain power.
