The logistical difficulties the US empire is experiencing in resupplying the USS Abraham Lincoln feel *weird* to me. And I think reflecting on moments of weirdness like that can be useful starting points for understanding and talking about the world. scottneigh.ca/aircraft-car...

I firmly believe that there is always resistance happening - *always*. But I look around in so-called Canada today and I get a panicked feeling that (almost) nothing is happening. So here's a post reflecting on that apparent contradiction. scottneigh.ca/there-is-alw... #cdnpoli

Out at Hamilton City Hall protesting Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s attack on public services and on the environment, as well as his cartoon villain-like corruption. I’d put turnout at more than 300, with a much stronger labour movement turnout than I’ve seen at something like this in awhile. #onpoli

The threat posed by the US regime to those of us north of the border is real, but the liberal/left nationalist responses that are pushing us into austerity and militarism are just implementing Trump's agenda for him. I like the alternative proposed here. www.thespec.com/opinion/cont... #cdnpoli
Last month, peace and justice activists in London, Ontario, blocked arms dealers and military and political officials complicit in genocide from entering a conference. Earlier this week, five were arrested. This graphic from World Beyond War shows how to donate to their defense fund. #cdnpoli
With a few dozen students, teachers, and other education workers at Hamilton city hall rallying in defence of public education and against Ontario’s Bill 33. #onpoli

Many thank-yous to all who made last night's #HamOnt book launch a success! If you couldn't make it or you live elsewhere, email info@fernpub.ca to register for the virtual launch happening at 7pm Eastern on October 28.
My book launch in Sudbury, Ontario, will be in the afternoon of October 30 at Laurentian University. I'll be in conversation with sociologist Anas Karzai. (Many thanks to Jen Johnson and the Faculty of Arts at Laurentian for making this happen!)
It's still 15 days until official release and I've yet to lay hands on a physical copy myself, but a reliable source sent me this photo today. Pre-orders are beginning to be fulfillied and *Listen!* is starting to appear in the wild! (Order yours here: fernwoodpublishing.ca/book/listen)

With a couple hundred people in Gore Park in #HamOnt for the Draw the Line protest, as many thousands more do the same in 65+ other communities, demanding that Canada put people before profit, uphold Indigenous sovereignty, stop blaming migrants, end the war machine, and end the era of fossil fuels.
Just recorded an interview for *Vital Signs*, the #HamOnt Community Foundation's TV show. I talked about my new book *Listen! Knowing the World and Fighting to Change It* (out Oct. 21), my earlier social movement oral history work, and social movements in general. It broadcasts in a week or two!
Some exciting news!!! My new book *Listen! Knowing the World and Fighting to Change It* will be coming out in the fall, from Fernwood Publishing. Get 15% off a pre-order using the code below. fernwoodpublishing.ca/book/listen
Really appreciating, as I stand with 50-75 others at today’s climate rally in #HamOnt, the way in which a commitment to climate *justice* and the interconnection of our many different struggles has become much more of an “of course” thing for many in local contexts.
