First practice session for LABBYNG, an improvised set blanket forts and I are playing in Sept. I have waaaay too many things on my side of the table.
Caught a beautiful 35mm print of The Truman Show tonight. Such a clever and subversive film that has aged really well. Unsure if it inspired all the crazy flat earther lore, or was reacting to it. Weir can direct so many kinds of film well. And a powerful minute of Phillip Glass’s Mishima soundtrack
Saturday had some beautiful clouds in Pasadena. I did not color Correct this at all.
Nolan’s dialogue tracks are just fine if your overall levels peak at 108 db. This was at the Dolby, and I’ve heard it’s very loud in 70mm IMAX as well.
Sick @daedelus.bsky.social show at Rare Candy in Highland Park last night. Feels like the 90s in LA again —not perfect, lots of things are bad, and we’ve got room to grow out of the cracks again. LA got one of their own back!
Fun show tonight. Managed to balance the synth rack on top of the Quadraverb with the help of two books: On Minimalism, and the Eno bio (they’re both the same height). Got the Terra up on some springed feet which made it more expressive with pitch bends just needing a little pressure.
I Love Boosters has a fantastic first Act. There’s something so stupidly wonderful in the first 10 minutes that just sets up the world. Tune Yards score is off the wall and essential. Film is kind of a mess in the second half, but fine. A film that has more ideas in a scene than most do in 120mins.
Live rig for tonight’s improv performance with Blanket Forts at Die Electric in Downtown LA. Total joy playing a set like this: sounds picked out — but building sequences on the fly. Starting to get the hang of the Terra. Omnichord mode is great for picking up notes hammered into the TB-3.
Playing an improved live set with Blanket Forts twice this month. The first date is May 21st at Die Electric in Downtown LA. I’m doing tones and noise and Blanket Forts providing beats and textures.

First time seeing Once Upon a Time in the West on the big screen at Vidiots last night. WOW— Jason Robards is amazing.What a voice.

The disaster film was the superhero film of the 70’s and Airport 77 really only has this one scene in an airport. Yes, it does have an amazing cast, and the place is under the water. 70’s must have been some fever dream. Glad we watched this one on an old screechy VHS.
We started The Singing Detective tonight. last time I saw it, was pre-911. Wow, what a first episode. The bag of candy hitting the floor. Still in the middle of a move, so we watched on VHS / CRT. Perfect format for this.
Power Spot was the first Hassell album I experienced, and it will always be my favorite. Transformative from the very first second.
Really great opening set by Collobah in Pasadena tonight. Expansive modular ambient.
