($\mathbb{P}$)—Aggostino Izzo, 51, a professor of music, today confessed to the murder of his wife and accompanied detectives to a makeshift grave in which he placed a box containing her body after he had taken her life with a hammer Tuesday morning in the wine cellar of their home.Surrounded by detectives to whom he confessed the crime "to clear his conscience," Izzo knelt before the grave on the shores of Onondaga Lake, and prayed forgiveness for "a murder he innocently committed in self defense."Tonight he was taken from his cell at police headquarters and before a group of detectives he demonstrated the manner in which he felled his wife with a hammer, dressed her body in the newest of clothing and packed it into the three-foot square wooden box.He blessed the body and its container with holy water, surrounded the box with candles, and the following day hired a truckman to drive it seven and one half miles along an almost impassable path on Onondaga lake, where on Sunday he and Mrs. Izzo had visited.Seven members of the Izzo family had been told by their father Tuesday night that their mother had gone to Detroit to visit her oldest son.On Tuesday morning less than an hour after Izzo talked on the telephone with a detective regarding the raising of funds for a church in the province of Caseta, where they once played as children he and his wife quarreled. He was tapping a barrel in the cellar, he said, when Mrs. Izzo, a knife in her hand, threatened that "if he didn't stop talking about her she would cut him.""I grabbed a hammer that lay on a box nearby and when my wife lurched forward with the dagger, as though to pierce me with it, I struck for her shoulder, but hit her a glancing blow on the head knocking her to the floor. I saw she was dead."$

Three persons shot to death in the West Side suburb early Monday were innocent victims of his search for retribution, by the confession of James Crucius, 21, also known as Granite, who was captured last night.

CINCINNATI POLICE TO CARRY CAMERAS CINCINNATI, Ohio, July 10.—Besides his usual equipment of "gat," billie and bracelet, every policeman of Cincinnati will soon be carrying a tiny camera, fitted with high-speed lens and capable of taking a picture in the tiniest fraction of a second. City Manager C. O. Sherrill has announced the latest addition to the accoutrement of the minions of the law. "Our memory often fails the best of us. A policeman must see everything in a very short time, for he very often has other duties to perform. With the camera recording indelibly on the film what the policeman sees, there will be less danger of contradicting the man who performs his duty," said Mr. Sherrill in making his announcement. City Manager Sherrill declares the cameras will be invaluable to the policeman when he has a case in court. "We will train every man to be a good amateur photographer, to work day or night, for he will carry flashlight powder as part of the equipment and we have every reason to believe the experiment will be a success," he said.$

Wedding Is Staged Despite Threats Of Rejected Suitor
New York, July 9 (AP)—After being guarded all night by a policeman against possible machinations of a rival suitor, Catherine F. Hoffman, 17 years old, and Daniel P. McKay, both of Staten Island, were married at Borough Hall, St. George.

The guard was posted Tuesday night after the bride's mother complained she had received threats from George Lesky, the rejected suitor.

Lesky, who is now held in $3,000 bail on an abduction charge, caused the postponement of the wedding on June 16, when he is alleged to have kidnaped the girl and held her by force for 10 days in a Bronx apartment.

The wedding yesterday was without incident.

WIFE HELD IN DEATH, NEGROES MAY BE FREED

Gadsden, Ala., July 8 (AP).—Inkling that four negroes convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of John Henry McClendon six years ago might have been the wrong parties to the crime was uncovered here when Mrs. Myrtle McClendon was jailed at Guntersville charged with killing her husband.

Of the four negroes two died last year. The four included Cleo Staton, John Murchison, Jim Hutson and Will Crutcher.

Authorities last night reported that Mrs. McClendon's daughter furnished the evidence which caused the woman's arrest.

His body was found in a gas filled room here last night. He had been dead apparently 10 days.Two weeks ago Idi and Gladys Hines, 19, were married. A letter found in the room told a tragic tale of the barrier between the Japanese and his white sweetheart."If you don't give me $100 to get the marriage annulled," it said, "I'll kill myself. Father said that if I married a Japanese, he would send both of us to jail. I don't want to go to jail, sweetheart, and would die by inches if I had to go."The annulment was granted by the Japanese himself and the gas wrote out the decree.$

Winding up a Fourth of July tour of various establishments, the couple hired a boat on the outlet and went out for a row. Neither was in any condition, however, to maintain equilibrium in a boat, and the craft got only a few yards from shore before the first accident happened.

The woman fell overboard and the man dragged her in, falling overboard himself. Deputy Sheriff John Bond heard the voices or excited spectators and, with George Crook and Arthur McWilliams, started to the rescue in an old flat-bottomed skiff.

Morrow, climbing back into the boat, started to row away from the rescuers, and they had to go back and get a motor boat before they could catch him. In the meantime, both he and his woman friend had fallen overboard again, and they were in the water when Bond and his companions approached.

Dragged into the motor craft, Morrow and the girl both demanded to be "let alone," and as soon as they were near shore, climbed out and started to run. Bond was having a hard time of it when Deputy Sheriffs Ripley and Church appeared and took a hand.

Morrow had a bottle of powerful "white mule" on his hip and neither he nor Miss Abbott made any attempt to dispute the report of the deputies as to their condition.

"No more boat rides for me!" the girl told jail attendants as she paid the fine for both.

Convicted of public intoxication after they had fought to get away from rescuers endeavoring to save them from drowning at Long Branch, John Morrow and Bessie Abbott, both of 517 Orange Street, were released from jail last night after paying fines of $10 each.

Their arraignment before Justice Gibbons, Geddes, was a post-climax to the most thrilling rescue Long Branch has witnessed in many years, staged before a holiday crowd of 7,500 to 10,000 people.

Somebody Bit, but Wife Didn’t; Out for Divorce
MRS. MARTHA BIESCAR was very much bothered.

She couldn’t understand how her husband could be bitten on the arm playing a game of poker with men friends.

Mrs. Biescar was so much bothered that she began a searching investigation. What she learned satisfied her that she was a neglected wife and the state of her husband’s inebriety caused him, she said, to turn cave man and “beat her up.” Her findings were incorporated in a suit for divorce on file yesterday in Superior Court on the ground of cruel and inhuman treatment.

One night when her husband, Louis A. Biescar, returned from an automobile ride when she was left at home, she found, she said, a telltale powderpuff and a feminine lipstick in his car.

When she asked “How come?” she said, her husband replied in an unconvincing manner.

Then came the bite on his arm. Mrs. Biescar also was inquisitive about that.

With an easy smile and a disarming gesture, Biescar assured her that he got that wound when he got “stuck” at a poker party with male friends.

The Biescars were married in June, 1922, and separated June 4, last. They have one child, the complaint stated.

Attorney Albert Sidney Brown represents the wife.

The father of eight children was sentenced in County Court today to Attica State Prison for one and one-half to three years for raping a teen-aged girl.

Umpire, Carried Off Field, Wakes Long Enough to Forfeit Game.
Chicago, July 1—Police teams from the Shakespeare station and Chicago Avenue station played a baseball game yesterday that ended in a riot. The umpire was knocked senseless and with one spectator carried to a hospital.

Edward Kane, member of the Umpires' Association, was the arbiter. He declared a long hit by a Shakespeare player, that was supposed to be a homer, foul. That started trouble. Later he ruled a Shakespeare man had not touched second on a sprint home.

With the score 4 to 2 in favor of Shakespeare in the seventh, Kane called a Chicago Avenue hit fair. It had landed near the foul line. He was knocked flat by a Shakespeare player and did not revive for 15 minutes.

A majority of the police players then attacked one another. Masks and bats were used. A riot call was sent in. John Conklin, a druggist, said the "umpire got what was coming to him." Someone hit him and he was carried away on a stretcher.

Just before going to the hospital the umpire woke up and declared the game forfeited to Chicago Avenue.

Chief of Police Collins has been called upon to investigate.

Jail Sentence May Rest With Henry Vivlemore, Mate No. 2.
Henry Vivlemore of Syracuse may cause a jail sentence on a charge of bigamy for Mrs. Margaret L. Symonds, 22, of Watertown, who admits she has been married three times.

Mrs. Symonds was arrested in Watertown upon the complaint of her third husband, Frank Symonds, who is employed at Madison Barracks. When arraigned in Police Court before City Judge J. A. McConnell she entered a plea of not guilty. She was held under bonds of $500 for an examination Friday, July 23.

Symonds declared he married the woman Aug. 2, 1925, and that she did not tell him of Vivlemore, her "other husband."

The accused woman, according to dispatches from Watertown, freely discussed her plight. She said she was married to Robert Newman in July, 1918. He lived only three months after the wedding.

On June 30, 1920, Mrs. Symonds declared she married Vivlemore. She has not heard from him since shortly after that time, she asserted, and had good reason to believe him dead.

Symonds, while seeking evidence to divorce his wife, communicated with Chief Cadin, who declared Vivlemore had a police record.

GLENHEAD, N. Y., June 22—(AP)—The bodies of Sydney E. Brewster, New York real estate man, and his wife were found tonight in Mrs. Brewster's bedroom, each with a fatal bullet wound in the breast. Between them lay a pistol with two empty shells.

The three servants had heard the young couple quarrelling earlier in the evening, and when they heard two shots, ran to the bedroom to find both dead. No immediate cause for the quarrel could be learned, but the Brewsters were said to have quarrelled frequently.
