I believe my quest to build my watches is complete. I made four and kept three that I really like. I might make changes to these, but I don't think I'll build myself any more.
For many reasons, my tour as the maintenance chief at HMLA-267 was one of the more meaningful of my career, so I have a squadron sticker on my truck. Or was parked at DFW for a week, when I got back last night, this squadron patch was under my windshield wiper. Stingers, Baby! Thanks for the patch
Thank you. I bought the movement and the rest of the parts and assembled them. The hardest part is putting the hands on, I've learned to keep back up hands around because I can get heavy handed. Magnification is a necessity.
These are the only projects I have to share. Getting the second hand on the one on the right had me talking to myself for real.
I found this on the Internet a long time ago during a different war, when the mall was still a thing. Weird that it's relevant again.
Alright, for all interested parties, my second effort at building a watch. Stayed with the GMT, changed to a little smaller case, oyster band and kept the divers timing bezel.
The eyes - no. I ruined 2 sets of hands last time because I didn't have enough magnification. So, I ended up with this. My hands are a little shaky, but "ok."
This is the first watch I built last summer. I learned some things during the build- second hands are hard to put on. And since I've been wearing it- I like the dial and the GMT function, but not together. So, I ordered new parts with 2 extra second hands and I'm making a new one.
If any of y'all got any extra winter, send it to Texas please. It's Dec 16 and 86⁰. I'm going out to run errands in shorts and a t shirt.

For those of you who might not get to experience it, sunset over the Chihuahuan desert, Big Bend National Park.
I, not nearly as skilled as yourself at making the things, made my own. I feel like you need another hobby, wood working, lawyering and family, oh yeah, and cannon making don't keep you busy enough to stay out of trouble.
There's a tattoo cover in there. Good luck finding it. SeriousTom used to be young, drunk Tom. Then I grew up some.
