it always amazes me that we still have to deal with mundane tasks even when democracy is under siege. Today's mundane task was finally after months of procrastination finally finding someone to spread gravel on both driveways.
Jake when he was young and roamed the world (and followed me everywhere)...now he's elderly and spends his day sleeping on my desk, or on me, or the cat bed next to the desk, and has to take medicines twice a day for thyroid and pancreas.

it is the 2nd day of March, but already a few of the daffodils around Letcher county have popped open, bright splotches of yellow on a grey drizzly day.

newest addition to the household, Stubby, a feral we've been feeding for four years. Made an executive decision on the first bitter morning of the storm to snatch him up and bring him inside. He seems content during the day, but cries at night to be let out (not happening at 6 degrees F).
In 2012 January was a really warm month here in eastern Kentucky, we'd have weeks and weeks without freezing temps even at night. The moss loved it. Photos near my house. Today after a night of single digit temps the same bank looks grey and dead, but spring will come!

L'Chaim! Celebrating one year anniversary of my breast cancer surgery, breakfast at our favorite local restaurant, the Pine Mountain Grill.
Here's what's cooking at my house today: vegetarian, black bean chili, with an eggplant base. I cook at least twice as long as the recipe calls for, and its even better the second, third and fourth day (there are only 2 of us).
So 4 days later, and plenty of attention (likes, shares) but NO comments/responses says that we all understand how little value there would be in an "AI based foraging resource".
It's 16 degrees F and getting colder here in eastern Kentucky, so we're all snuggled in and hunkered down. (Back ground black cat is Amy, foreground gray cat is Gurrly, and orange and white dude is Jake).
