Movie 3: Beyond the Door 3, a.k.a. Amok Train (1989) This film is bonkers. It swerves from folk horror to haunted house on a train to supernatural Speed. For a low budget movie, they manage an impressive sense of scale. It starts slow, but picks up steam once the characters board the train.
Movie 2: John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) This film blew me away when I was 12 years old, and every time I watch it I learn a little more about storytelling. A master class in how to tell a horror story. Plus, it had poster art by the legendary Drew Struzan.
Movie 1: Late Phases, also known as Night of the Wolf, or Night of the Lone Wolf. This 2014 Indie film is one of my all-time favorite werewolf movies. A blind war veteran moves into a retirement community only to discover that a vicious predator stalks the elderly there. Warning: The dog does die.
