I write a little about a lot. - Politics (Canadian mostly), 2SLGBTQ+, and Weird Geekiness ... because.
Oh look - gun lobbyists saying that "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" ... only it didn't happen that way. They need to explain exactly how they think more guns is ever the solution - because it's not, and we only have to look at one country to prove it. #cdnpoli
We have a plushie in the house that looks exactly like that - couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be!
The SCC is not an investigative body. They would be asked to examine the constitutional validity of the legislation.
FB account demanding "school choice" posts a blatantly 2SLGBTQ-phobic/anti-science meme, and tries to imply that these are bad things. This is Danielle Smith's Alberta. Fight Back. #abpoli
From the following reference: criminalnotebook.ca/index.php/Re... The problem for someone making a complaint is that it's very difficult for them to present the evidence in a way that rises above the "conjecture, hypothesis" standard.
The problem is that Jen Gerson's complaint would primarily appear to be "hearsay", and the "Probable Grounds" standard doesn't extend to hearsay evidence ... this was deliberate.
So, Dani is taking a victory lap based on the IOC adopting a policy that returns to the days of invasive and unreliable “dna sex testing“ that were abandoned in the 90s … doesn’t that say it all? #abpoli
Conservatives: DEI is racist and we’re not racist!! Also Conservatives:
Not that I am surprised - for all that #Alberta #Separatists love to talk a big game about forming an independent country, they're the first to demand other bend knee to Trump. If Rath thinks Trump is so great, I invite him to move south. #abpoli #cdnpoli #Never51
Highlighted from the article. What kind of blame-shifting nonsense is this? The costs of both solar and wind have dropped precipitously in the last decade, and are now well below hydrocarbon derived energy. (except maybe in Alberta where the govt has slammed ridiculous restrictions on renewables)
So ... Derek Reimer decided that he just simply _CANNOT_ fulfil one of the conditions of his conditional sentence (namely writing an apology to the library manager he threatened) - so he's been arrested (again) /1
Oh - look at that ... so just over a week before the legislature resumes sitting -> so the government can claim "oh we negotiated, and the teachers were soooo unreasonable" ... as they ram through back-to-work legislation.
That couch makes me think art deco -> so maybe some framed Vogue covers from the 20s/30s? Totally random idea ... just came to mind looking at the wall and space ...
For anyone interested - Craig Chandler is setting up his slate of candidates for #yyccc this year. Just found it in my mailbox ... oddly didn't knock on my door ... I wonder if the pride flag had something to do with that ... @abcyyc.bsky.social
The overviews on the subject that I have read have always left me looking and going "there's something missing here". I don't reject the principle of it, but I've never been persuaded that it is complete or necessarily correct.
So ... now we know what happened on Monday in court - NOTHING. Because - apparently Reimer's lawyer is trying to make this a Charter Rights matter. Oh - and a little reminder: Reimer is serving a sentence for BREAKING THE LAW by engaging in intimidation. #abpoli
Then there's these peculiar dates in here. They want feedback by June 6, 2025 and the feedback _MAY_ influence standards to be released "late spring 2025". Anybody else picking up that this questionnaire is pro-forma and will ignore any feedback that doesn't agree with already made decisions?
Here's the thing that pisses me off with the "I hate Biden" types. They are perfectly willing to celebrate news of an illness that is in no way an individual's fault _BECAUSE_ they don't like some aspect of policy. Then they expect the rest of us to understand their position. It's not coherent.
Then he tips his hand. It's really about rights issues that Mr. Morton doesn't like. Diversity, Aboriginal rights, etc. - after all, those are just noisy little minorities to be squashed under the jackboot, right? /3
It’s nice to Canada’s print media (except Postmedia, of course) starting to call Trump for what he is. #cdnpoli archive.ph/IrCke
I saw both a Rivian and a Tesla Cybertruck today. One looks like a fairly respectable truck, the other looks like a low polygon count image pulled from a bad movie. I'm not going to sink north of $100K for a truck of any sort - but seriously, at least the Rivian has some degree of style.
Concrete isn’t a requirement for something to be brutalist per se. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brutali...
