Mira loves belly rubs but only if you also hold her feet. She is SO SOFT AND SO GOOD.

Found in my notes under the title "Gender and Mosquitos". I don't remember writing it but it IS a good metaphor for the experience of being misgendered!

Mosquito don't have bad intentions, you know. They're just living their mosquito lives trying to feed themselves and their families and they don't actually mean you any harm.
It's just how they are. Besides, there are so many, you can't smack them all. And is having 15 mosquito bites really that much better than 20? Maybe it'd be easier to just let them bite you and put up with it.
Especially once one has already bitten you and it's on your leg, about to fly away.
Smacking that one isn't going to change anything--you're already been bitten. And again, there are hungry mosquito children who need that blood! Smacking it just makes you come off as an asshole.
