These fires are so bad, y'all. Colorado once again has the worst air quality in the US—and one of the worst in the world. The Aspen Acres fire mandatory evacuation zone surrounds ADX Florence on THREE SIDES—and rather than evacuate the prisoners, they have them on fucking lockdown.

He wanted to increase NYPD funding/hire an additional 580 cops—until folks pushed back; walked back on police oversight; gutted foster care prevention; keeps throwing trans youth under the bus (the current funding promised—only after a lot of pushback—is still significantly less than originally promised); rolled back promises around library and parks funding; he promised to drop Adams’ legal battle that sought to block the expansion of the CityFHEPS housing voucher program—🗣️ *THEN ESCALATED IT WHILE REINSTATING HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT SWEEPS* (he recently settled, but the program was still gutted—and especially harms homeless youth—and while more folks will be eligible under the future program, fewer will actually be approved); etc. etc. etc.

And ~65% of CO’s jail population is due to people’s inability to pay money bond—🗣️ SIXTY-FIVE PERCENT.

COMPLIANCE WITH FLORIDA STATUTES
This course content, course activities, and all course readings comply with all state education statutes. Of particular relevance, the course design explicitly ensures, as per 1007.25, that this course does "not distort significant historical events or include a curriculum that teaches identity politics, violates s. 1000.05, or is based on theories that systemic racism, sexism, oppression, and privilege are inherent in the institutions of the United States and were created to maintain social, political, and economic inequities."

As per requirements for social science courses in the State University and College Systems, this course will contribute to students’ understanding of basic social and behavioral science concepts and principles used in the analysis of behavior and past and present social, political, and economic issues.

This course does not violate discrimination against students. Discussions during class will include a variety of course concepts and ideas, which will be provided in an objective manner without endorsement of any specific viewpoints.

To ensure compliance with the Florida statute 1007.25, the following should not be included in any course content:
* Discussions that suggest that unconscious or unintentional institutional discrimination (e.g., systemic racism, institutional sexism, historical discrimination) is a singular cause for patterns of inequality observed today Discussions about unconscious or unintentional discrimination as inherent among American citizens
* Discussions that state an intent of institutions today to oppress persons of color
* Discussions that state that heteronormative behaviors are tied to implicit bias, and harmful to children Discussions that argue most variations between men and women are learned traits and behaviors
* Discussions that argue that modifying opportunities for persons of color to match opportunities afforded to others regardless of merit is necessary to address historical racism
* Discussions arguing a causal association between institutional sexism and unequal outcomes between men and women
* Discussions that suggest that an entire racial or ethnic group is biased against another racial or ethnic group
* Discussions that describe when, how, or why individuals determine their sexual orientation and/or gender identity

3. THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN SPECIFIC INDIVIDUAL TRAITS AND PATTERNS IN BEHAVIORS AND OUTCOMES
Finally, students will learn about how certain individual traits shape how people navigate social spaces. Some individual traits have biological relevance and social relevance. For example, biological sex chromosomes determine not only the sexual and reproductive organs an individual is born with, but also how females and males behave. This behavior is also influenced by the social relevance of these traits. So, in teaching this, one might point out that women and men with the same credentials enter different jobs such that certain jobs are occupied primarily by women (i.e., female-dominant) some are occupied primarily by men (i.e., male-dominant) and some have roughly the same number of workers who are female and male (i.e., non-gender-segregated). On the other hand, some individual traits do not necessarily have biological relevance, but they have social relevance. It may be helpful to point out that although the color of one's skin is associated with gene expression in a similar way as eye color or hair color, race is not a genetic trait. Race is defined by societies differently, and not all countries differentiate specific racial groups. For instance, in population census research, countries identify individual traits that are relevant to socially defined personal characteristics that uniquely differentiate people by group in that country - some countries only ask about birth nationality, some ask people to identify their ancestral lineage, while others allow individuals to self-define their race, or do not differentiate people based on a racial category.

So under the “fire safety provisions adopted by the City and County of Denver”, landlords are now requiring the removal of… welcome mats—but valet trash is still forced on us. I guess trash cans littering the hallways don’t present a safety hazard bc emergencies only happen during biz hours. 🫠

Dear Residents,

This is an important safety notice regarding items placed outside of apartment doors — including welcome mats, furniture, tables, vases, plants, and similar belongings.They must be removed from hallways no later than Thursday, February 12th.

Why this matters: Under the fire safety provisions adopted by the City and County of Denver all corridors, hallways, exit access routes, and means of egress must be maintained free of obstructions that could impede safe evacuation in an emergency. Specifically, the International Fire Code states that the required width of corridors shall be unobstructed and that means of egress must be kept clear so that occupants can exit quickly if needed.

What this means for everyone in an enclosed building, is that there must be nothing in hallways outside of resident units — no mats, seating, decor, plants, baskets, trash containers, or other personal belongings — because these items can create trip hazards or reduce the clear path needed for safe evacuation. Stay tuned on how this will affect Trash Valet, for now no changes will happen, but we do still ask that you do not keep them outside your doors during business hours.

What you need to do:
 • Remove all welcome mats, tables, chairs, plants, storage bins, and other personal items from hallways and outside your apartment door no later than Thursday at 8:00 p.m. • Items not removed by this deadline will be photographed, documented, and subsequently removed by staff to ensure compliance and resident safety.

Fire safety is non‑negotiable. In the event of a fire, earthquake, medical emergency, or other urgent situation, every second matters and clear pathways can save lives. Keeping exit routes unobstructed isn’t just good practice — it’s a requirement of the fire code.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community safe.

Just a reminder too that Denver Democratic Mayor Mike Johnston has always ordered DPD to threaten our nonwhite unhoused neighbors with 🧊—using fear to push them out of the city as part of his fascistic “Vibrant Denver” pet project.

Last spring, the Denver City Council unanimously voted to terminate its contract with Flock Safety, but Democratic Mayor Mike Johnston unilaterally extended the contract in October, arguing that the technology was a useful crime-fighting tool.

The ACLU of Colorado has vehemently opposed the cameras, saying last August that audit logs from the Denver Police Department show more than 1,400 searches had been conducted for ICE since June 2024.

Well, a few of the women got a little too much sun and by the following morning were pretty red-faced, and then one of the women was called to her counselor’s office to receive a disciplinary write up for her sunburn: “destruction of government property”. Wow! It kind of hit me in a different way at that moment. So, although there is no longer a fence surrounding me, until 10/01/2027, every move I make is monitored. Any and all doctor’s appointments, mental health therapy sessions, all communication on my phone and email, any employment endeavors, all overseen by BOP.

Donner said prison officials were using county jails to keep the prison vacancy rate above 3%.
“They were increasing the number of people held in DOC in (the) jail backlog as a way of artificially keeping that vacancy rate above 3% to avoid triggering the prison population-management measures,” she said.
