The 1st one maybe not such a great photo, but absolutely captured the happiest moment of our old girl's life on her final camping trip- lying in the forbidden zone (no dogs under the table!!) and just knowing she was going to get bacon and eggs. 2nd photo- never were there 2 more confounded dogs.

Here's my lad giving excellent airplane ears. Lest you think he is mistreated in any way- he demanded to be let out, immediately turned and glared through the door. When we opened it to let him in, he refused. He just wanted us to implement the Summer Patio Open Door Policy and we failed to oblige.

Glasgow, sometimes being slightly behind the culinary times, has recently discovered the things in bowls made of bread and run with it. Pasta carbonar in a garlic bread bowl? Yep. Butter chicken in a naan bowl? Double check. Or how about spaghetti and meatballs in a bread cone? Oh yes!

Holly the golden and Charlie the setter (Charles Archibald, if you want to be fancy). They both heard daily "It's a good thing you're so cute and adorable because it's the only thing saving you right now." because my goodness, they both were wild little things.

Lucy=JOY!!! Mixed reaction with our kids- mind, the golden is never less than thrilled at everything and the setter always glum. Setter spent much of his time on the way home stopping & holding his paw up so the balled up snow could be removed while the golden crashed around trying to eat everything

I learned only recently about Birds Nest fungi. I thought, how exotic! Turns out there are at least 4 diff species within a 10 block radius of me-Van, BC. Jellied Bird's Nest Fungus (Nidula candida)
A very close up photo of a cup shaped fungus growing out of a fallen log. It has a smooth inside and a wooly textured outside. It is white around the rim and greenish towards where it is attached to the log. There are some small grey lentil shaped fruiting bodies inside the cup and what looks like some algae or bits of moss caught in the fuzz around the rim.

Fluted Bird's Nest Fungus (Cyathus striatus)
A cluster of cup shaped fungus with smooth white insides and brown outsides that almost look like it has the texture of wet sea otter fur. There are several small white lentil shaped fruiting bodies nestled inside each cup. The cluster of 8 mushrooms is growing amidst wet bark mulch and leaf litter.

Woolly Bird's Nest Fungus (Nidula niveotomentosa)
A single bright creamy white fuzzy cup shaped fungus growing from a stick on the forest floor. It has a yellow, almost caramel coloured inside, with small toffee coloured lentil shaped fruiting bodies nestled in the bottom of the cup.

Common Bird's Nest Fungus (Crucibulum laeve)
5 cup shaped mushrooms growing close together in amongst some damp bark mulch. They have butterscotch coloured interiors and orange-brown outsides. There are little piles of pale yellow lentil shaped fruiting bodies inside each cup.

I mean, if you didn't ask her for it, it means it's hers. Them's the rules! Daisy is a wonderful name! (our Daisy next to cat in 2nd pic) The lad in left pic would sit for ages with things in his maw waiting for us to notice. We've got a different crew now, though the cat is still part of the team.

He's my very special, sensitive, boy. He's honestly the sweetest, most simplest of dogs I've ever met. His thought processes resemble a single marble bouncing around in a Rube Goldberg machine of complicated ramps, tubes and gears that never quite arrives where it should. And he really loves berries

Berry quality control is a very important specialist job- well done Ziggy! My guy is a more of a generalist and will declare all fruits are fine, even rotten windfall apples. I think he's more of a #1 who "thinks" he has a job, but really is not qualified.

Questionable Stropharia. A close up image taken from ground level of a single white stemmed mushroom with a shiny, slightly pointed yellow cap growing from a bed of brown alder leaves and cedar fronds. There are coniferous trees in the background and it is slightly misty.

Slime Mold. A close up image of a cluster of slightly tapered white, shiny oval shaped fruiting bodies attached by slender stalks dangling from a slightly out of focus bright green mossy bed.

Fly Agaric. An absolutely perfect specimen. A close up of a stereotypical bright red capped toadstool speckled with white spots, with a thick white stem and growing from a bed of fallen brown beech leaves. There is a blurry looking golden retriever sniffing around in the background being bored because her mum keeps stopping to take pictures and exclaiming about the wonderful mushrooms.

Amanita muscaria. A second image of the same amanita as before, but taken from above. The photographer is using their hand to demonstrate how enormous the mushroom is- it is larger than their spread fingers, about the size of a dessert plate.
