personally i think with the rumored genealogy remake (which'll presumably be released on the switch as like a final hurrah for the console) - an fe4 rep would be very likely (especially considering how fire emblem's rep in smash leans towards modern fe)
nintendo has absolutely wisened up to how to promote their ip - the last decade has been them setting up ip like pikmin / donkey kong / star fox and they've been reaping massive rewards so far i wouldn't be surprised if the eventual newest smash game focuses on legacy ip more than others .
was saying this in vc last night with some friends but people need to understand that characters like lip or takamaru are significantly more likely than waluigi or crash in nintendo's eyes - sakurai isn't as much of a deciding factor for the game's roster anymore
