Remember that "rich men north of richmond" song MargarineTG and co. loved so much (2023)? With a line specifically about wishing the government cared about miners? She said it was about the "forgotten Americans." And then they all forgot them, too.

A post from the blue-check Twitter account of author Margaret Atwood says: "My goodness, some of you are good at misreading! To be clear: when HandmaidsTale came out in 85, there was disbelief. I thought a religious-roght takeover was possible in the US, and was Crazy Margaret. Premature, but unfortunately too close. That doesn't make me happy."

I've been transcribing Natl Archive records from Japanese-Americans who were sent to internment camps in the United States. Specifically the cars taken from them in 1942. Here are some. I apologize for my sparse alt text, I am not knowledgeable about cars, but years and makers are in the alt text.

1929 Ford convertible. The car's body is brown. The cloth top, fenders, and side boards are black. It has wheels with spokes which are red with white walled tires on them. The front grill and hardware are silver.

1929 Ford Pickup. Vehicle, wheels (which have spokes), tires, roof, fenders are all black. There are wood panels along the long sides and top of the short pickup bed.

1929 Ford Model A Sport Coupe. The body is a very dark burgundy. The cloth convertible top and the spokes on the wheels are cream-colored. The fenders are black. The fenders, sideboard, lights, mirrors, and other hardware are silver.

1930 Chevy Coupe. The two-door vehicle is dark red, as are the centers of the wheels. The fenders are black, as is the center of the grille on the front of the car. The hardware is silver.

2024 has just been 85% (probably more) of people wholeheartedly answering "yes" to this question.

Black background with white text, slightly blurred, a grayscale band across the bottom has some designs I can't discern. Style is reminiscent of text portions of a silent movie that would appear in between the actors' scenes. Text reads, "Have you so little misery that you must create more?"
