Synopsis from a dude I'm part of a forum with and reading it doesn't make it any less wild.

So, a play in 5 (or more) Acts:

Act 1 - New Orleans has an election for a clerk of the court related to criminal cases and the election is won by Mr. Duncan, freed inmate (there’s an argument whether he was technically “exonerated” - I haven’t studied it) who is an activist for criminal justice reform. OK, fine. New Orleans is a blue city.

Act 2 - Although Duncan wins the election he never takes office b/c the state legislature of Lousiana “consolidates” the judicial clerk positions in New Orleans and just happens to delete his political office. Oopsie! This comes after a nasty local/state political battle.

Act 3 - As part of the political battle, the state AG issues an “opinion” that the local New Orleans officials (including the mayor and various police officials) could be dismissed from their positions for opposing the consolidation. The New Orleans folks, already massively pissed by the deletion of their elected official, take this as a threat but instead of being intimidated, they get nuclear pissed.

Act 4 - The New Orleans DA takes a case to a New Orleans Grand Jury and secure multiple indictments against the state Attorney General for intimidation and threats against police officers and public officials. As a sign of their rage, they issue an immediate arrest warrant and then set the bond at $400K.

Act 5 - Before they can arrest the AG, the AG runs to the (GOP) State Supreme court and gets the whole thing put on hold. Meanwhile the governor is promising to pardon the AG and the New Orleans folks are basically doing the political equivalent of raising the Black Flag and/or painting their faces blue.
