@firehair12000.bsky.social @turboshawn.com Game Mess podcast segment suggestion "is this Fatal Fury character new or existing?"
18. Star Fox Made me reflect on 💵 value vs playtime. Too short for most; for me, the definitive way to play Star Fox. Path based cutscenes were great; dialogue tone/script changes were not. Gameplay incredibly faithful to the rock solid N64 original. Is this what the Ocarina remake will be? 4/5 🦊
17. 007 First Light Expected Hitman with martinis; got thrilling spy movie instead. Separation of gunplay & fisticuffs is clever. Opening montage inspired. Excellent visuals, music, stellar acting. Bawma will return, but a single play for me. Give IOI the keys to the franchise. 4/5 🍸
16. Mina the Hollower Zelda x Souls inspiration clear, but carves its own Victorian Industry vibe. Large map, clever dungeon mechanics. Tricky platforming while dodging enemies unnecessarily frustrating. Won't redefine it's genre like Shovel Knight but a well crafted title. Modifier menu 👩🍳🤌 3.5/5 💡
Ming coming at you with a stop sign is one of my favorite wrestling game moments. It's a gem
Patreon, could you just bloody not? The world doesn't need another Facebook. You already make money off monthly donos which is more than most online companies. Take it and don't ruin a barely tolerable platform.
16. Bioshock Infinite A real trip returning to Columbia after 13 years. Enjoyed the gear system, powers and combat more than my first playthru. There are narrative elements that aged poorly, or maybe were never appropriate to begin with. Twisting factions really struck a nerve. 3.5/5🇺🇸
Love leverless! I've since moved my Mister into an arcade1up cab but for the longest while I had it built into this arcade stick, complete with HDMI and power ports. Easily the weirdest controller I've had. Nowadays I use an 8bitdo Arcade Controller but I swapped the switches for lighter ones.
15. Starfield Starts slow, but the action picks up with impactful gunplay. Interesting ideas rooted in Bethesda's DNA (radiant quests, outpost building etc). Ship building is great, but space combat is flat. Enjoyed it, but no desire for the DLC or the New Game+ systems they heavily push. 3/5💫
Bots, scalpers right? There can't have been THAT much demand. I just wanted to see import fees/delivery costs
I made mashed potatoes with cheese, horseradish, and carmalized onions. Easily the best thing on my plate all week. @tommyreinking.bsky.social you should give this a try.
11. Vampire Crawlers Poncle's follow up to VS is quite the 21 hour trip. Usually bounce off deckbuilders but the hyper paced combat and forgiving combos were a blast. Pixel art and music on par with VS. The UI is a tad clunky tho, and I miss the flavour text. 🤞this gets dlc 4.5/5 🧛
Sat April 11 - 8pm EST I'll be doing a stream raising money for Pencils of Promise. Pulling my hair out trying to clear games in a Mario Shuffler 😆 If able to donate or amplify this post I'd appricete it. fundraise.pencilsofpromise.org/PressBToDonate Twitch.tv/PressBToCancel
10. Super Mario 64 20 yrs since I beat it start to finish. At 15 worlds, 120 stars, some even hidden, a huge amount to explore. Interesting moveset, but Caps are boring. Controls defined future 3D platformers, but often infuriating. A tough game, something we don’t see in modern Mario. 8/10 ⭐
9. Star Fox 64 Considering how early a title it was, easily one of the best looking games on the N64. Fantastic music, iconic characters, and rock solid gameplay that rewards skill. Relatively short, the multiple paths and secrets make this one of the console’s best. 9/10 🪐
8. Super Mario Land Another example of the GB hardware having better music than it has any right to. While the physics don’t quite feel right for Mario and it’s a little too short, it’s still an overall fun platformer. Why did Nintendo abandon Mario’s sub and plane? 8/10 🏜️
