What? Not another Instagram account, Mark? leedsmotorwaycity now exists.
Choose Leeds tees are now with the retailer and tags have just arrived. I’m pretty excited for a Wednesday evening.
In other news, I’m getting near to the end of the first run of my first product, the Leeds Goth enamel pin badge. Now a museum piece, only 500 classic badges (left) will ever exist. The new one (right) is smaller (and more elegant) with a raised, polished enamel face. I need to update my shop.
On Monday, I popped in to Northern Guitars for a long overdue official opening of the legendary Joseph’s Well venue sign I rescued in 2024. Huge thanks to Alex Sobel MP for doing the honours, and to Rick, Dave and Danny of Northern Guitars for arranging. I like to think we look like a band.
Blimey, these have turned out nice. And I don’t mean my lovely blue filing cabinets.
Banging on about Leeds Goth stuff (haven’t stopped), the viral Burger King menu post, Alan Bennett the spinosaurus and Zombles.
Sad to report the end of the Old Morrisons Carrier Bag of Woodhouse Moor. Drift off on a gentle breeze, sweet little bag. You will be missed. Here are a few old pics.
It’s especially nice when you chat to someone about how you brought The Mission back to the scene of their first photoshoot to retake it, and they say “Oh, I know” and point to their brother in the pic.
This isn’t a political post, but I read something about candidates visiting every home in the by-election twice. Thinking back to last night and recent events, I’m wondering what percentage of the Leeds population I’ve spoken to about goth culture. Has to be pretty high.
Took the pop-up goth exhibition to Project House for the Tainted Love disco, along with a few badges and tees and things. Danced far more than a man behind a stall should have expected to. Also think I’ve found the perfect ‘Choose Leeds’ and ‘Choose Goth’ Venn diagram overlap.
First Armley Gyratory, whatever next? leedsnomad.com/product/morl...
It was a great day. The goths took over the museum. The thing about running a stall is you can’t leave it, so apologies for the lack of great goth pics. Though I did manage to sneak a bit of video which I’ll likely share tomorrow. So many amazing conversations. Only just coming up for air.
Happy #worldgothday. I can’t believe it’s a year since we launched the Leeds Goth Hall of Fame. Tomorrow, we’re back for a goth museum takeover. I’ll be be there with the pop-up Leeds Goth Museum and quirky prints, pins and other things. See you by the gift shop?
