Schooley, I recall the 1976 Bicentennial. It was a joyous time. The Vietnam War was finally over. President 37 was 86'd in 1974, and Gerald Ford was succeeded by Jimmy Carter in the election of 1976. Something called the rule of law was still alive, and the official symbol was for all of us. #sad

Ali, I came across this vintage Helen Hokinson cartoon through a New Yorker article this weekend, and immediately thought of the Velshi Banned Book Club.
I admire those who learn English as a second language -awfully difficult- and it's rude to mock their accents. Melania has lived in the United States for thirty (30) years, but apparently has made little or no effort at fluent verbal skills in English. Odd.
