Someday, someday, we may reach it; the sky. They/Them
Took me way way waaaaayyy too long to watch Promare but I fell in love with it so quick, this movie owns
Goodbye Lara already off with the best premiere of the year. Takushi Koide I kneel.
I've concluded 6 days into Fate route that Issei is the best Nasuverse character
Walked into a Free Guy watch party by accident and only now got free (guy)
48. FATE/EXTRA CCC When one speaks of love, one shouldn't speak of the reason behind it. I want to hold / embrace / you like this, because I love you. Review Part 1 (Main Route): bckl.gg/tbTd Review Part 2 (True Route): bckl.gg/tfJy
47. HAPPY GILMORE Ah so that's why he was allowed to get away with his decades of crime. Got more laughs out of the first 10 minutes of this than any of the other movies we've done for this. Adam Sandler has a particular energy here that I haven't really felt for any of the other movies so far.
46. FIRST PERSON PLURAL An equally touching and heart-wrenching documentary about a woman who was always put a distance away from her roots. Felt a big mix of emotions from how clear it is that Deann's family loves her unconditionally and how callous they are towards her search for her past.
45. SMILING FRIENDS OVAS Pretty good two episodes even if I don't think they're the best of the series. Glad to see this back one last time regardless. John DiMaggio voicing Charlie's uncle was my fav bit across both of them, he has a fun voice.
44. SPACEMAN Interstellar if Christopher Nolan wasn't a fucking idiot and put toxic giant riddler spider yaoi in it. This is just a normal movie which made it a breath of fresh air for these Sundays.
43. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES X NARUTO This was cute. I've always found crossovers much more charming when they act like both series are in the same world, and this goes a step further with how it integrates TMNT lore. Sasuke doesn't get to do much and I find that funny.
42. DOROHEDORO S1 Much easier to appreciate without "I could be reading this instead" lingering in my mind. While it's not as detailed as the manga it perfectly captures its grimy, yet cozy feeling it has. It impresses me so much how seamlessly its cast and setting intertwine.
41. FIRE FORCE SEASON 3 Frustrating cuts that did Arthur's portion kinda dirty aside, a solid adaptation of one of my favorite shonen finales ever. Re-experiencing it has only heightened my love for its exploration of faith and our relationship with death. Definitely Ohkubo's best work.
40. FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END S2 Those returns sure keep diminishing! This is what happens when a show that banks entirely on its "novelty" to mask that it has nothing interesting to say or do with its premise stretches itself thin enough for that novelty to wear off.
39. VIRGIN PUNK: CLOCKWORK GIRL Really hope it keeps going cause this is an awesome first act. Great mesh of modern aesthetics and very classic OVA-style action animation. Debris especially looks amazing. Story's setup has a sickening antagonist that's really making me look forward to some revenge.
38. JOURNAL WITH WITCH Very cozy even with its subject matter being the complicated, non-linear processes of grief and finding yourself during it. Both of the leads are very interesting people, and I even saw what felt like a possible future version of myself in Makio.
37. GROWN UPS Adam Sandler makes a CGDCT movie that's mainly just an excuse for him and his friends to mess around. Rob Schneider is a main character in this and that's about how you expect it to be. Somehow gets a little less unbearable in its third act.
36. TRIGUN STARGAZE Dreadful. Misunderstands Trigun at a fundamental level while magnifying all of Stampede's problems tenfold by just turning around and doing Maximum beats without any of the weight or nuance that story has. I'm struggling to even see the mc as being Vash.
35. FATE/STRANGE FAKE If this is a "butchered" adaptation, then the novels must be unbelievable cause I adored this. Narita's writing style goes hand and hand with making a captivating Fate story, and its new cast members are some of my favs in the entire franchise.
34. JUJUTSU KAISEN S3 P1 I've accepted that I'm not gonna be super in love with the series writing style even if I do like a lot of what it's going for. Still, as far as sheer spectacle goes it's hard to get much better than this.
And with that I'm finally done with Drakengard and Nier! It's one of the most equally fascinating and frustrating game series I've ever experienced, and I'll probably be thinking about these games for a long while after this point. Here's a tier list of most of the full cast!
33. NIER: AUTOMATA I really went through this whole journey of experiencing Taro's games from the start just to go "yeah Automata's his best work", I'm the worst contrarian of all time. bckl.gg/sKh8
32. CHAINSAW MAN A chaotic tale about the stifling nature of the world leading someone to spiral. Never stops going at the beat of its own drum even if it can go off the rails at times. It never stopped keeping me guessing for a single week which is extremely refreshing as a reading experience.
31. CLICK The Happy Madison torture nexus, now with themes and such™. I always wondered what It's A Wonderful Life would be like if it was boring and had every "-phobic" in the book. The super emotional last third feels like such a swerve I can't take it seriously. This got nominated for an Oscar.
