In other busy nat news- I fixed my recent printer problems by buying a new huge A2 printer. So now when I sit at my desk, this guy's to my right, looming over me. I'm excited to push it to its limits, but I have to finish this art book first!!!! gahhh always so busy!!!!!

Mikki ended up going to ozcc melbourne for me because im STILL sick 🫡 First day feeling energetic enough to do some light colouring in bed. Drawing is so hard after a break, but going to cons is harder, so ill thank mikki for her noble sacrifice by not complaining about my rustiness too much

This art books taking over my life.. in a good way! Its the best feeling ever when youre just obsessed about your current project and can just delve right in >:) Im lucky I have such flexible work right now so I really can just follow the call of the whim. behold- the dnd layouts!
pt 3 - a section on dnd cats! then some later doodles. then merch stuff.. i think theres some real growth over the book, which is so reassuring, thank god! even if i stagnated in some ways, i definitely got better in a bunch of areas too
pt 2 - into monthly miku, baldurs gate, dnd... lots of dnd... and then im not sure how to group all the rest, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it!

I'm currently making an art zine and I have so many pieces that are 90% done and abandoned with only the hands not finished... so I'm finishing off some hands in an effort to not be SO embarrassingly obvious in my struggles

The fact it's almost 3am and I can't sleep might be obvious. These are my prime existential crisis on bsky hours hehe if you read all this I give you some snippets of Nat art 🤲. SEO hates me, I distribute art only on the end of rambling threads now!
And if it helps, I use clip studio paint with a mix of two brushes - gentle pencil for a flat hard round brush with a bit of edge texture, and then this one with a turtle in the name LOL I find it has nice texture and ability to blend colours. They can both be found on the asset store!
Since you asked specifically about painting and blending I think these are the most important factors to think about to when capturing the form and its roundness, and things like colour/temp variation give you more variety so even the flat areas stay interesting!
I made this video going through my general painting process! It's not much, but I hope it's useful. I find it's super helpful to look at reference while thinking of the things I mention and analysing other people's work to help decide on colour/temperature/edge control
