Another nice weather day today! I did a Costco run in the morning and picked up some stuff from Sephora, spent some craft time with my wife listening to an audiobook, went for a bike ride to the folk festival and archery (shot ok, not great) and got a ride back home
Back home! Saw a few more bands, walked around a lot, and started to feel exhausted and overstimulated so I came home. But folk fest is a good time that really feels beautiful in its multiculturalism, with people, art, food, and music from all over the world yet also uniquely American & New England
Took a trolley ride back down to market st, where a soul & blues band was playing. Getting food now -- lines are long but there's more good food here. Puerto Rican, Portuguese, Polish, and Armenian.
Boarding house park has more really great food and an African drum band playing. Lines are long but I see Greek, Filipino, middle eastern, Hispanic, Laotian, and el Salvadoran food stalls. It's sunny and everyone's having a good time. Also I got myself a pretty tank top.
At city hall plaza, they have Burmese, Greek, Liberian, Vietnamese, Brazilian, Cameroonian, Thai, and mixed African food. I went with a Burmese sticky rice and coconut wrapped in a banana leaf and Brazilian Kibe (beef croquettes). Somewhere in the distance, polka music is playing.
Lowell Folk Festival Thread incoming! It's a beautiful Saturday and I biked downtown this morning. Did up my makeup so I look extra cute while I'm out and about. Made it to the cafe (Cafe Eclipse) and got a bucket of lemonade. Enjoyed that and made my way downtown for the food stalls
Touching grass. Went for a bike ride through Chelmsford and stopped for ice cream and a walk around the park at Roberts Field
Tripper and rolled my ankle going down the stairs this morning, so no bike ride for me today. 😭 Still feeling pretty cute and stylish and wanted to enjoy the nice weather, so I drove to church and downtown after for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. But I'll probably need to rest up a bit.
Getting my hair done today; they bleached the roots and will be dying it teal, but I had to get a picture. I kinda like it but I'm not beating the Baja Blast allegations
I took my mom to see a Beatles cover band ('The Fab Faux') as part of the Lowell Summer Music Series. It was a good time! Definitely mostly old people, though.
Had someone tell me I was 'Mountain Dew Baja Blast' themed today (complementary)
In the evening -- my archery league started up again, and I shot a new personal best! It would get me my next pin, but unfortunately the league format is different. Still, I know I can do it now and my shooting got a lot more consistent!
Yesterday -- made it to summer service at UU Church, went for a walk up the rail trail and found a nice little clearing with an old granite bench in the woods. Had a Green Committee meeting, went home for a bit, and biked out in the afternoon to the cafe and a Drag King show happening downtown
After that, I rode down to Lowell, and found that the Northern Canal Walkway was actually open! Rode up it, then stopped at the cafe.
Today's bikeventure: I rode through the Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro state forest. Unfortunately it just ends so I ended up on some not-really trails that went alongside farms, and ended up at a farmer's market and craft fair in Dracut!
Archery tonight -- got a new personal best! A rough start but if I can just avoid the misses I'll have mg next pin!
My town goes all out for the 4th of July parade every year, so I decided to do extra sparkly makeup and bike down there. It was nice, I saw a few folks from Pride events, civic groups, and my church, and not a single Trump hat (lol)
Biked down to Chelmsford town common for a pre-fourth of July festival on the common. Had some lemonade, mango sticky rice from the Thai place, and fresh made donuts. Weather was hot but I did okay! Tomorrow they have the big parade -- I may or may not bike down.
Did some red, white amd blue nails last night for the holiday. Happy 4th of July!
We used an electronic wafer generally used for HD displays & showed we could connect it to our integrated piezoelectrics in a foundry. We then showed you can control the core components of integrated photonics - phase shifters and ring resonators - from a digital backplane with precision and speed!
Made myself fabulous and going out for bikeventures today. First stop the diner!
Small bike adventure today; stopped by the Lowell African Festival, ate some good food, and rode downtown to check out the queer nerdy market party at cafe eclipse. Also I think I looked great today!
Saw a rainbow on my way home from choir today! (Also I'm the only tenor left in the choir so I'm gonna have a solo this weekend)
Today's log: went to church this morning (and the annual meeting where they officially voted me in as a UU), got coffee, did a puzzle and listened to an audiobook with my wife, went for a bike ride and got a steamed bun and lemonade, brought home milkshakes, and had leftover Indian food for dinner
Went to Lowell Pride today. It was a good time! Better than Boston Pride for me; not quite as massive, saw a lot of friends, and had a delicious bucket of lemonade. Also I looked pretty nice and the weather was beautiful. (Plus I biked and that's always fun)
I was in Somerville this morning so I took the train down to Boston Common for Pride (my first time.) I missed the parade but I had a good time vibing for a few hours
Boulder adventures this morning include three queer-friendly cafes (Walnut Cafe, Laughing Goat, and Creature Comforts) plus some bopping around Pearl St. also I finally got new sneakers!
Did a hike today. I was by far the most out of shape person, but the views were nice!
