When You Come Crawling (2015). More exploration into dealing with a fissured sense of self, a metastasized self smoothed down to an inoffensive polish, concealing all the ruptured rubies within 🩸 ✨ 1/
This piece is complicated and not very neat, an intersection exploring gender dysphoria, girlhood, spirituality, sexuality, indigeneity, race, tourism, whiteness, body horror, body integrity dysphoria and on and on and on…. 3/
There was too much social risk to naming things directly growing up and this withholding–skirting around the hurt–became a sort of narrative technique. 2/
PART 1: A Body Made of Seeing (2015) is an older short comic I’m still fond of. A lot of my older work is shaped through negative space; getting close to the crux of pain and emphasizing its contours rather than trying to compact it into the most focused presentation. 1/
36 years today but I feel like I’ve lived most of my life in the last 2 years, all thanks to the people who care for me 💚 grateful to be so loved in this world!!
wanted to share some older work that isn’t online anywhere: The Red Hours was a large riso zine I made, a secondary world book of prayers illustrating tortured saints, each accompanied by a prayer dedicated to their martyrdom (the text isn’t shown)🩸 still quite fond of this zine!
looooved The Secret Market of the Dead by Giovanni De Feo! phantasmic Italian-inspired gothic fantasy with a emotionally proppulsive plot helmed by a very true and charming protagonist. its going on the bookshelf ✨
We read Works of Vermin by @hironennes.bsky.social for my book club and I adored it! I was completely consumed clawing and groping my way through this moistly decadent, transformatively stinky bug-infested world and characters. shoutout to @jdebbiel.bsky.social for the killer cover too!
really enjoying HOSTILE PLANET out from Strangers Publishing, filled with really astounding post-environmental collapse comics, really beautiful work 🔥
