A guy (he/him), obsessed with the DS/3DS and handheld game systems of nearly every kind. Too Many Handhelds on YouTube.
I never played A Link to the Past on the SNES because I was a Genesis kid, but in college I got the GBA version for Christmas one year. I was thinking about it, and I haven't played through it since, and this afternoon I decided to add it to my rotation now that I've finished Arkham Asylum.
Going through my PS3 purchase list, and apparently I bought Spec Ops: The Line in 2017 and never installed it. That was a busy year for me, so I understand why I didn't get around to it, but I didn't know I had this game and I've been wanting to play it for a long time.
I just finished Arkham Asylum and while it has its flaws, overall it was a lot of fun and still holds up pretty well. It also makes me miss Kevin Conroy. Mark Hamill's Joker is so good too. They really breathed life into these characters and the game almost feels like a passion project.
MegaMan X is one of those games where they nailed just about everything. The gameplay, music, graphics, etc... are all so good!
Now that there are Flock cameras watching everything, apps in our phones that track us, and the US is a full on surveillance state, is it finally time to employ runners to get secure messages to each other?
Playing RE4 on a handheld while waiting for a wedding to start in a few hours. After playing Requiem and RE4 Remake I keep trying to parry and that doesn't quite work 😂
I picked up Rhythm Heaven Groove and it's very fun. I typically don't even like rhythm games, but I love Warioware and it has similar vibes.
If you have a project with a lot of caulking to do, this thing is a game changer. It's $5 and you can adjust the pressure of the tip to get a fine or wider bead that's really smooth. It also clips onto a caulk gun and has extra caps which you can use and then cut as new tips.
I picked this up loose for like $3 on a whim and ended up loving it. It's still pretty cheap, and it's like a better version of Wordle imo.
There is a Super Pocket Evercade handheld that has a collection of games from Rare. The selection is good, but Banjo Kazooie is a native port with controls that are pretty good. And it looks really good too. The shoulder buttons are a bit uncomfortable, but it's a nice port.
The Pirates of the Caribbean level of Disney's Adventures in the Magic Kingdom has a pirate firing a cannon point blank at one of the captured villagers. Even as a kid I thought that was pretty messed up 😂
To my Millennial and Gen-X friends, do you remember the feeling of seeing a parental advisory sticker on a CD and you knew that it was going to be a great album?
This is my Miyoo Flip with a new sticker from etsy. Sticker from www.etsy.com/shop/SwervyA...
My biggest pet peeve at work is asking someone a question to get their opinion and/or feedback only to have them respond with "I asked AI and it said..."
I love this drawing from Muffinpines, and it's hard to believe it's almost a decade ago that we were blessed with it.
Holy shit! Lilo & Stitch on GBA does play like Metal Slug! It has grenades, and a power up that's like the heavy machine gun. I avoided it because it just seems like another licensed game, but it's pretty fun!
Back when I was in college I got Wolfenstein 3D for the GBA. It's a little slow, and there's no music, but it's a good port for the hardware. I remember playing it in the back of the pizza place I worked at. For some reason hanging out, chatting, and playing Wolf 3D is a core memory.
Playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land feels like a form of self care. It's like video game comfort food.
Playing some more Giant Super Mario Bros tonight. It's an impressive rom hack that makes Mario huge. There's a lot of flickering, but you can rampage through levels smashing blocks and defeating enemies.
I saw this post earlier today and remembered that I have this cart so I checked to see. This is what it looks like on the Evercade:
OMG, the Bat-held has a loading animation that audibly says "who wants to play video games?" If you're expecting it, this is kind of cute. However if you're not expecting it, this is a jump scare lol
Behold the Bat-held! A gaming handheld with Batman logos on the front and back for some reason. I have to play Batman on it right?
Another RE9 run in the books. This time I was trying to find the files that I missed and finally got the Case Closed achievement.
