Happiest above tree level. Hiker (🖤RMNP🖤) - Horse girl - book lover - gardener - paddle board addict - zero waste aficionado - not very nice - Deftones devotee of 25 years - lazy iPhone photographer - nec dii, nec reges
3.5/5 - it’s a wee bit boring. I enjoyed learning about the history of American burials and the graveyards were all fascinating. I’ve actually started looking up my local ones to learn their history, so I guess the book made an impact. The author’s quips are annoying. #booksky #justfinished
5/5 - another fiction book and I really liked it. Kind of a cross between Blair Witch and Green Room. I must be getting better at suspending my disbelief w/fiction because there were really no parts that grated at me too much #justfinished #booksky #horror
Whenever I post the elk they immediately give me way better shots within a few hours & then I feel like maybe I shouldn’t post boring backyard elk again but this time I don’t care. Look at this handsome guy! He came so close I had to get the dog out of the yard but got some nice pics first #wildlife
Got completely soaked TWICE out on Lily mountain but won’t be complaining about moisture this year. Watching the rain come for you across the valley is always a trip. First two photos are taken 6 minutes apart, same mountain (Twin Sisters, excellent summit!) in the background #hiking #outdoors #RMNP
5/5 - this book is an homage to my home. It’s set in places I frequent & the way she writes about Estes Park & Longs is as if she’s inside my brain. I’m profoundly sad I’ll never see this place how Isabella Bird did (unsettled), but what a wonderful glimpse into how it was #booksky #justfinished
3/5 I was really into this book until the end. It’s wild and original and beautifully written. I’ve never read a book set in Finland and certainly never one about Finnish ‘hicks’. It was an easy 4/5 until the finish, so probably recommend. Others might not mind it. #justfinished #booksky
I’ve got bees! I still have another chapter to read of Thor Hanson’s book Buzz, but once I read that one can order bees, I did and now have a little group of bees! They arrived & bees are using the tubes before I’ve even finished the book. One of my fav reads this year #bees #gardening #booksky
4/5 - will definitely be reading more SA Cosby. I read a lotta non-fiction and this book was a great break for just straight entertainment. It felt like reading Sin City. I didn’t know I loved noir thrillers until now. Not sure which Cosby book to pick next! #justfinished #booksky
5/5 - What a story! Not just a tremendous recounting of a Nazi spy family and their involvement in Pearl Harbor, also a memoir about finding out your family’s shocking hidden past. Fascinating pictures and documents included. Loved this book #justfinished #booksky
Haven’t clearly seen Long’s in 2 days because of the smoke 😭 pic from Dec 2024 #mountains #outdoors
A day of light yard work (shoveling out invasive plants) at the best place in the world #RockyMountainNationalPark
Not so much about an influencer abusing her children as it is a religious zealot who happens to be an influencer. I still don’t fully grasp what the hell was the dad’s issue. Story is heavy on privacy for victims & light on details. Had to YouTube to understand what happened #booksky #justfinished
Said a little hello to my most favoritest mountain in the world today. Any time I’m not directly looking at Longs I miss it. #RockyMountainNationalPark #hiking #outdoors
4/5 - I actually really liked this book. It’s not deep, but it’s very entertaining. The author has a great style of writing. Knocked off a point cuz there are important parts that are rushed, in a ‘don’t worry about HOW or WHY this happened’ way, but overall a recommend #booksky #justfinished
4.5/5 - this book was all over the place but I ended up loving it. Goes into theories why there were so many prolific serial killers in the PNW. Includes a lot of history of the factories pumping arsenic & lead into the area. It’s a lot, but I wished it were longer by the end. #justfinished #booksky
This was a fun and very educational book. Maybe a bit slow in parts but we’re talking biomechanics of a cow and the science of grass so I guess it should be. The cow pictures at the end were worth the whole read anyway. Want mini cows even more now 4/5 #justfinished #booksky
Some alpine time today 🖤 Longs Peak Trail, Rocky Mountain National Park #hiking #outdoors #nationalpark
