I don’t believe the larger Cox family or his parents and Cox Enterprises have commented. At least one right-wing commentator conflated the immediate and Dynastic families, implying Cox and its media outlets harbor or coddle anti-American communists.
Two left-wing politicians in Spain are calling on the Spanish Govt. Not to cooperarte with the Trump admin. in extraditing Fergie Chambers. www.ultimahora.es/noticias/loc....
A Spanish wire service story notes political objections to the extradition request. "Podemos Islas Baleares has demanded that this request for extradition of Chambers to the United States be rejected, considering that the order responds to political persecution." www.infobae.com/espana/agenc...
"We chose the Twin Cities because it’s a region with a vibrant media ecosystem, hunger for news and tons of creativity. We’re excited to offer a unique and high-quality newsletter to complement what’s already there."
I'm not a DSA member. (Yet) But watching the growth of DSA in Cox City has been generally refreshing when not only have traditional Democrats been reluctant to challenge corporate power or billionaires and their foundations' role in public policy, but so have most local media.
Change in AJC publisher means a change in its Editorial Board. Andrew Morse was a public face of the AJC and wrote front-page editorials. Will Curran be as high profile? Or is Cox CEO Alex Taylor's recent pieces a sign he'll be?
Since 2017 Robinson has also been the resident Republican pundit on WABE's Political Breakfast paired with Democratic strategist Tharon Johnson who was Reed's campaign manager and advisor.
I'm working on a blog post about Georgia's Governor's race and our competing public broadcasters, state-run GPB and WABE, licensed to the Atlanta public schools. I reached out to both campaigns for a statement and received this from the Bottoms campaign. The Jackson campaign has not responded.
For its part WABE moved its May meeting up a week without posting a public notice.
Today I was informed that tomorrow's board meetings for Georgia Public Broadcasting have been postponed until July 29th due to the World Cup. While several GPB board members are involved in sports broadcasting, both the board meetings and World Cup were scheduled well in advance.
Current House Rep Gabriel Sanchez echoed the building on wins trajectory noting his own election in 2024, Kelsey Bond's win in 2025 (for Atlanta City Council), and now Samson's. But warned there are now "targets on our backs" and institutional opponents will no longer simply ignore them.
City Council Member Kelsea Bond noted the districts overlap and that while they had little to do with Samson's victory other than through endorsement, DSA was able to copy and paste much of the organizing from the city council race to the newly opened state house seat.
In his victory speech Mathewos Samson credited DSA's extensive organizing efforts including 24,000 door knocks (I assume some were repeats) and a large volume of texts and phone calls. (I saw Samson himself sign waving most of primary day.)

Fot the 100th anniversary of Ulysses, Aris Theatre in Atlanta did a stage adaptation and the Irish consulate gave out copies. (I listened to the audiobook.)
"All About the Money" has won the Jury Prize for Best Feature at the 2026 San Frisco Documemtary Festival. The film, by Irish director Sinead O'Shea, follows controversial Cox heir James "Fergie" Chambers after his cashing out of the family trusts. It debuted at Sundance this past Jan.
At a monthly comedy PowerPoint show I do someone else did a spoof of Alex Taylor's anti-Beltline Rail OpEd.
"The city has paid Incisive $123,000 in the current fiscal year..." Lot of folks with Cox ties at Incisive. www.incisive.is
"[Saporta] left Atlanta Civic Circle in 2022 but declined to say why." Guess we'll never know.
