My next marathon is May 2027, im working with this group to lift my aerobic base before i start another training block in January. Consistent running with increasing quality rather than just extra miles
#Belfast back to wearing its usual gloom after a month of blue skies Ive been working with my clubs sub3 marathon group since May, a mix of #Runners, for first timers the biggest shock is the volume and quality of #Running needed A balance of that with proper recovery I talk alot #DublinMarathon

Track session last night, I usually don't do track, it's not for me 4 minutes at 10k pace /75 sec rec I stopped after 8, overheated Too hot, then hot hotter🥵 Went for an run in the cool shady forest instead A more inexperienced me would have said finish the set of 10 #Running 📈it's a long game 🎯

Trail run needed, I did Mourne granite trail on Sunday, gave me the strength to get thru another week
For me it's date, Ive only finished one marathon in the last 2 years, so I've a 4 months window to use my gfa time or it's gone. Dublin like all big races now is oversubscribed I think I'm going to do local trail races instead next year, my wife has been ill, i like to be within driving distance

At the Art college #Belfast this morning, scene of many a lost night for me in the early 90s 🪩 it's now the Ulster University campus, and quite fabulous. Sorting the teenagers future, he was more interested in the film society and the extra curricular. Well, so was I then, but in a different vein🍺🕺
Shokz are very good, I don't like the multifunction side button that sometimes rings people during a run, you can turn that feature off, but when you update your phone it sometimes switches back on. I don't want to ring anyone when I'm running, wheezing

I have roughly 2/1 ratio, I can understand people new to parkrun wanting to run every week, but I'm not impressed with the big number shirts with no volunteering. I know it's an obsession. I get more out of making it happen the #parkrun magic🪄 my local, Colin Glen is always short of volunteers
