23 years ago. Age 40. My Reserve JAG unit back filled the OSJA for 15 months. I’d served in the same office just 10 years before from 1987-1992. The SJA and I have known each other since 1987 and are still good friends. Only 16 years into my 38 years. Seems so long ago now.
Not my picture as I’m further forward but this was yesterday morning right as it started to pour our last 15 minutes. Absolutely soaked.
Thirteen months. This is why not only veterans but current service members give up, harm themselves, and feel like the system doesn’t serve them when they need it to. Essentially HRC owns this problem but it’s been a finger pointing game the whole time and DFAS hasn’t helped. Not my problem.
Easy workout but damn it was hot. Every time I stopped between reps and sets I could feel the heat on my head and shoulders. Within 10 minutes of getting out I was sweating.
So last week’s storms and water debris resulted in rowing cancellations and now the extreme heat is doing the same this week. But I got an easy swim in I stead.
Pile of read books in my bedroom headed to 1/2 Price books in the next week or so. The remaining pile is just as large. Still some more to purge but not nearly as many.
Rowing cancelled due to storms and flooding. Still got up at 5:30 since I missed the cancellation last night. Happily sitting here with cat, coffee, blanket, and NPR and listening to the storm.
Something I didn’t experience last fall was the college coxswains. Rows were relaxed, fun even. 6000 meters. Now it’s like training for a race every time. Slave drivers. 🚣🤣
I didn’t swim outside last year. This year I am. Normally I wear the suit type on the left. Today I got bold and wore the right side. I’ll let you figure out where I’m a tad burnt. 🤣
Last row outdoors was before Memorial day due to all the rain. River is still high and fast and it was windy so we stayed in the chute. Still nice to get out.
Pickle beer day at a local brewery. I had a pickle beer and a short ghost pepper. 🥒🍺👻🌶️🍺
