Brilliant analysis from @theicct.org on the carbon (and revenue) leakage risks from various ways to extend the EU ETS to all flights. In all cases the leakage is very low. So that’s for sure not an excuse. Now looking forward to the Commission’s review on Friday. theicct.org/publication/...
Thanks also for that clarification. And for your presentation earlier today 😀👇🏻
As I mentioned recently, this graphics by @steveclimate.bsky.social is a great illustration to the article:
Having followed Danish climate politics for some years this sounds right. In CONCITO we have also seen it play out in surveys, like: 'Should politicians do more to curb climate change?' [Yes!] 'Do you support a tax on red meat' [No!]
… This earlier paragraph expresses quite well the need for the EU to step in:
As the ETS review is approaching, I’m revisiting the section on aviation, in this book’s brilliant (and surprisingly candid) description of the extremely significant EU Green Deal policy package. It says, paraphrased: ‘If CORSIA doesn’t work [which it obviously doesn’t] ETS will be extended.’
And here’s the view Wednesday morning this week, where some dork had parked on the square 🤦♂️
Voi, Lime and other similar rental firms: You need to find a business model that doesn’t require that you *systematically* block pedestrian space. Suggestion: Put your gear in the car parking spaces instead. 🍿

Regarding Denmark: Yes, people really respond to costs. As we now have grid tariffs that vary significantly over the day, there are now distribution network bottlenecks: arxiv.org/abs/2606.13401
The best meal this week: Flammkuchen mit Spargeln with a glass of Grauburgunder, next to the Spree in Berlin.
1/2 New CONCITO analysis shows that the probability of Denmark achieving our 2030 climate goal is now below 1%, under current policies. Nicely illustrated* by the picture I took yesterday at ‘Folkemødet’, the yearly Danish political festival. * Non-Danes, see alt-text concito.dk/analyser/usi...
Are saying there isn’t lobbying? Anyway, the survey was done just after US attacked Iran. I’d like to see it done again now. Buyers seem to have moved.
The below graphs are the yearly data/projections of Danish transport emissions (mostly road transport). Policy works: 2020: EV tax rebate agreed, in effect immediately. 2023: Truck roadpricing agreed, w/ 75% rebate for electric trucks 2024: Diesel tax increase agreed 2025: ... above two in effect.
At your service! I was today interviewed by national Danish broadcaster for their Sunday news special, about how the football World Cup is increasing its carbon footprint by extending number of teams (generating more air trips for both players and fans). www.newweather.org/wp-content/u...
'Søringen' and 'Forumlinien'. The urban highway projects in Copenhagen, which fortunately was dropped. Read more about the horrors in this magnificent post by @colville-andersen.com, where he overlays the plans on today's city: medium.com/coolville-de... #dktrp #dkgreen #dkpol
Unfortunately there are more ‘Consumer support’ that is, demand *supporting* initiatives (90) than ‘Energy saving’ initiatives (54).
Just replace Good / Cheap / Fast with Convenient / Free / Available. I wrote about this here (in Danish): concito.dk/nyheder/park... #dktrp
Yes, to be sure I had also checked just the April data in the link I sent: BEV + PHEV = 20.6 + 9.8 = 30.4% (And I don't count PHEV's as EVs, but that's a different discussion.)
The EV transition is not only happening in Scandinavia. Now also large markets like UK, Germany and France are above 25% EV share of new cars. Can’t wait to see the May numbers. Graphics borrowed from @ilyasdogru.bsky.social.
