I'm a big fan of pain and degradation as well (from the dom perspective), but I have to admit, "call me the worst things in the world" made me think of this and had me laughing. XD
A) You're underselling yourself. I love your shading and anatomy. B ) It's not an either/or proposition. We aren't limited to following like 10 artists and "gotta make them count." It's just a matter of if folks like your work, and clearly they do! This old meme immediately comes to mind.
