I'm not the first to do this. When I was at @anthrocon.org, the AV crew clipped a lav mic to my tongue. This was the same setup for @furryopera.com and @littlealphapup.bsky.social at AC 2026. I asked AV about the mic: Shure MX185. It was a solid choice, and I loved how it sounded at AC Tonight. 🥰
I secured the mic with medical tape, with the head poking out to avoid muffling the sound. My fursuit fan acted as my pop filter. The other end is just a 3.5mm plug that goes into a wireless transmitter! This was my setup at @aurawra.org.
Turns out the guy used to work at Chapel Off Chapel. He bought a bunch of them during the pandemic for virtual music shows. (I've seen over a dozen musical theatre shows there, and I was over the moon with the purchase.) I bought it for less than half of the price. For the nerds, it's a DPA 4060.
